Us 'Stevenburg' bum boys :ghey: are meant to start our track days this coming year and we plan to do a load around the country, However, it will probably snow in Febuary :wack: but we will probably be interested in later ones at this venue even though it is a fair treck. After we get a few runs in at newbie bedford 'impossible to hit anything runoffs apparently' autodrome.

Your get to know us when we're do come eventually as we will most likely be pestering you for trackday pointers lol :wack:

24-11-2005, 00:13
Hmmm, I'm not sure about this with the tyre situation.... Now the smallest rims I can use are 17's, I dont have any spare ones to fit and I dont fancy splurging £400 + on new wheels just yet :wack:

I have been perusing castle combe, donnington and snetterton in february though ;) anyoneup for another as well as elvington  :)

I'd like to do all of the above to be honest steve but i'll be very surprised if i can afford it:( I'm gonna try and manage one every couple of months next year, maybe more in the summer. If flush will definately do more. Also thinking of using summer trackdays as an excuse for camping trips with many of them being so far away.

Castle coombe is only 45 mins from me - i would be up for that. (not sure if i could do coombe, and elvington though would have to see closer to teh time)

Just a thought, but how many cars and how much money would it cost to hire a track ourselves:confused: After all bookatrack have got to be making money and if its all our lot and people associated with us that are going then surely in future we could just book it for us. Look how much the scooby lot got that rally drive track for:)

I looked at this a few months back, and got quite far in talks with Donnington. i eventually beat them down to a mere £8000 ish  :censored:
As you can imagine, i gave up on that idea, prefering to 'negotiate' extras or discount with the existing companies. :)

We started a thread on FCCUK along a similar line - http://www.fccuk.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=547201&an=0&page=0#Post547201

I vowed never to do another airfield day after Brunters last year, the wear is too much IMO. I was at North Weald on Friday doing a 'Walshy' day, and am down to the carcass on my clio!
I'm definately up for Oulton, although quite a few of my trackdays this year will be with Lotus On Track. The rest we can hopefully do as joint FCCUK/SXOC events again, gives us extra buying power in numbers. ;)

Good to see you getting back on track so soon Kev.

Cheers, Dave

It wouldnt be a problem, you just buy sidemounts, cut them to fit and weld them in. You will probably have to re-enforce the floor though.

jrtuning
30-12-2005, 23:20
good plan i'll look into that i reckon i can lower the seat quite a bit by having it flush with the floor and would be a much better driving position and help me feel like im part of the car i could even get the seat put back a few inches well maybe 2" tops and get a little more leg room woohoo

There will be a tyre-fitter on site, however be prepared to pay £10/tyre for the privilage, easier to bring spare wheels

There will be jacks and stuff taken, that you can borrow. Sometimes theres more than enough but particually at the end of the day if you havent got your own you could be Q'ing for use.

Thatll be fine, just bring your bung because very occasionalyl you get some anal geek from Elvington slyly sticking noise meters up your car butt.

Really, I caught him mid test, bastid :smash:

If you remind me closer to the time then Ill bring a decat silencer that anyone who has noise problems can borrow and throw into their system to shut it up :)

See you then, any question just ask  I'm unsure of your track experiance but we are here to help if we can.

As for track experience...well none so far but am intending to go to a few this year so a local one will be a bit less daunting i guess, not as far to tow her home if it comes to the worst:wack:

Wondering where you guys get your tyres from. Searched on Egay for some part worns but all i can find are overpriced snow tyres and godawful Nankangs

Nankang arnt bad for elvington as there is sod all grip to begin with and they last quite well on the abrasive serface. Just dont expect to have a lot of grip but they are bloody good fun with them on the rear :D

SM
06-01-2006, 21:05
Nankangs at Elvington wont be as bad as you think.
Concrete is an odd surface, I'm not saying they will grip, not much will :wack: I'd prefer to use Nankangs to F1's, at least they will last (me, holigan) the day.... and have some left.

My Bi-monthly attack plan looks like this.
Input of course welcomed but I have spoken to the usual suspect and think I can please a few.

Feb - 4th - Elvington
April - 17th - Donnington (Easter Monday) 99%
June - TBA - Oulton/Snetterton/Croft/Anglesea
August - 24th/25th Spa - & Nurburgring & Euro-roadtrip 19th Aug - 3rd September booked off
October - TBA - as per June

I'm hoping the Southerners Day at Brands Tuesday 18th April £99 will come off and be a success  :Plug:
I'm also hoping that Dates at Goodwood and Castle Coombe may be popular if somebody down that way can rally people together for a day

Theoretically yes, but I've been twice before and never been asked for the licence. You also have a month to get a new one, with pretty photo pic too

As said before, Elvington is perfect for first go. Nasty for tyre wear but pretty much impossible to come to harm otherwise.

not at Elvington:) i've never been asked for my licence there. the Motorsportvision tracks (silverstone, cadwell, donington etc) are the ones that insist on it. never had my licence checked at anglesey either:)

other way they sometimes get round it (at MSV tracks) is by phoning DVLA but they charge you for that iirc. like i say i think you'll be ok at Elvington;)

Remember you need to PAY IN FULL 28 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT to get the SXOC discount.

If you all turn up 14 will be the BEST yet for numbers at a trackday, we had 9 at Silverstone last year, well out of the ones I have championed  I know the Haynes ones have better better attending  and we have one scrabbly guest in our group too.

If your not on the list you have missed the discount.
Even if your on this list you may still have up to 50% to pay, if its not all paid you *may* have missed the discount.

SM
15-01-2006, 18:00
If you take the rear seats out you can get around 4 stacked behind the passenger.
I usually have fuel/tools/food + 1 wheel behind the driver.
But only if these are standard sizes.
You can get 3 in the boot if you take the spare+bootliner out (unless you have an LPG tank there :annoyed: So just 1 in the boot for me - so I take 6 to a trackday, and if I can send 2 more with Bren).

I tend to take a lot of tyres as often I'm usuing up tyres that are below or just road legal, so dont last long but are fine on a dry racetrack. Although this year I hope to using slicks/semi-slicks.

Time to buy some silicone. I've used Sikoflex before (as gasket compound), but its so good you can't remove any of the parts after it sets :wack:

EDIT: Or is silicone not a good idea cause of the AFM? Mind you it won't get near it... I think its the hot pipe thats leaking.

Wheres the leak John?

ShawJohn
31-01-2006, 23:13
Not sure TBH but I had all the parts off to do tubby gaskets so obviously somethig isn't seating correctly. I'll just remove all the intake pipes and smear some silicone on the joints. Should fix it ok.

That is unless its the AFM and not a leak

I might try the compressor on it at work... Just pump 25pound of air into it and Im sure the leak will show up. Some Fairy will give the game away me thinks/hopes

Oh and Im going to do a quick vid of my consult program now the lambda sensors connected
Its the wierdest gauge, constantly going from lean to rich, like min and max of scale...

The lambda "scans" when cruising to keep fuelling optimal, thats normal.

LOL :D
There are some people who fit a boost gauge and then panic when the reading drops below zero. If you have a thousand gauges, at least one is going to creep you out :D

ShawJohn

initially I thought it would scan and then gradually learn/narrow in on an accurate reading. It runs smoother anyway, and there seems a lot less nast engine braking as soon as you twitch your right foot on light throttle.
Im sure its fine... It just worked differently than I expected.

"If you're preping your car the day before thats too late. You need time to ensure everything is A1, any new brake pads are well bedded in (500miles) and to test it all out before arriving at the track."
taken from begginers guide to trackdays.

so who's following this rule then :wack:

my car isnt ready neither is brens or shawjons anybody else

bren

Thats what I was thinking... Off the Queens Highway testing ground :wack:

And its only an air leak, how hard can it be... Oh and Bren, I'll be needing some DS2500's when I come for the Coilovers  Them are for weekend too :D

Thats why everyone takes tools & a jack isn't it :D

Its all a part of the fun ;)

fair enough :D

slightly off topic has anybody thought about calling or emailing a magazine like banzai or jap performance about this weekend as i wsa thinking at work today it would make an interesting article about the fact not everybody gets a 200sx to drift it and this trackday shows the cars can be just as good going around a track properley as opposed to sideways ;)

was just a thought anyway as this is a record for amount of 200's at a trackday isnt it?

also simon thorpe is yeager on here isnt it so maybe he could put a word in or even do the article himself

ShawJohn

Good Idea

Unless all they do is get pics of us losing it and apparently drifting :wack:

Here's mine

1. Oil leak from the fecking oil pressure gauge when over 5000rpm :( Again!

2. Front Brake Pads.

3. Oil Change & filter needed.

4. Coilovers could do with fitting.

5. Air Leak somewhere between turbo and throttle body.

6. Oh and a fecking good clean out, it currently resembles an IT depts dumping ground :p

EDIT: Additions after MOT test :( Emmissions was OK though with no CATS :D

7. New O/S/R brake pipe excessively corroded - locks like Im bending some cunifur tonight ;)

8. Need to sort out 2 helmets.

I have a slight brake issue that I'm resoilving after breakfast.
Tomorrow I need to fit a FMIC, short shift (and gearbox oil change) and fuel pump before lunchtime.
Friday I need to fit a LSD, Oil cooler, oil temp/pressure gauges and boost gauge.

That do you?

ShawJohn - I'd just like to say that I enjoyed this morning's post on the coilover group buy thread. From this distance, I could sense the sheer panic in the fingers when Bren said you weren't in it :D

Still havent done an oil change. And one of the new disks from bren big brake kit is fractionally catching on a caliper meaning I have to take it apart again. Plus they have only had 10 miles bedding in.

And its going to be freezing tonight when I'm going to have to sort all this :(
