View Full Version : Off up to Edinburgh this weekend......
...never been before. Any recommendations on where abouts to visit, eat, drink etc? I should have a bit of spare time in between going to loads of the shows at the festival.
Cheers

Who cares about the festival, go make some use of some of the best driving roads I've come across.
Last time I was up there was about 4 years ago in fwd hatch, and I still had a lot of fun.
I seem to remember many of the roads being a great condition and having little traffic, wonderful stuff.
Having said that, also took the A road that come South from the top of Scotland that's in the middle of the country (can't remember it's name). Lousy road surface, makes you feel like a rally driver. Some incredible scenery though.

Was at Edinburgh Uni. so Festival time was great...Rose Street and/or the Grassmarket obviously for pub crawls then walk up Arthurs Seat first thing next day to clear head and get the views over the city and across the Firth.
Dunno about eats now, probably best to visit the Fringe office to collect the daily show guide and just start asking people what they recommend. Most of the posh places are chock-a-block with media luvies up from London BTW.
Visit Jenners if you want a elegant gifts (or any shop on the Royal Mile for some tartan knick-knacks).
