View Full Version : Using Paypal
Hi does anyone use this?
Is it safe, easy, no catches etc?
Is there another way of paying for auction stuff on ebay, i.e. can it be done direct with my visa card?
Thinking about using it so that I can start getting a couple of things off ebay such as a turbo timer.
Knowing me thoughb I'll go to buy a turbo timer and comes back with an AVC-R!

apparently a few people have had problems, but personally, I've not had any issues with it at all, although it takes 5 days to transfer funds from your paypal account to your bank account
it's as safe as the person you're selling to/buying from, it's easy for someone to reverse funds, and little you can do about it (unless you setup a bank account to use solely for this, if you have no funds in that account, then funds can't be reversed by dodgy person you sold something to)
So to pay for something, I first have to transfer money into my paypal account, then go through with the transaction??
Or does the paypal account automatically take funds from my bank account when I try to make a purchase using paypal??

no, you'll need to have funds in your paypal account in order to pay someone using paypal, be it from your own bank account or credit card

I've bought quite a lot of stuff off Ebay using PAYPAL and never had any funds in the account. It simple deducts them from the nominated credit card when a payment is made.
Seems the safest quickest way to pay for stuff bought on auction. I've never had any problems with it.

Only if you have the lowest account, if you don't mind a charge for each payment (very small) you can register a credit/debit card and pay with that.
Other eBay payments can be made through www.nochex.com Thats pretty good, no charges but you do have to put money into the nochex account from your bank account before you can pay someone. Or eBay do a bill point service too. It all depends on what accounts the seller has really.
The account would be for buying stuff off japandy probably.
So finally then : Basic Paypal account - I will have to pay a small charge if I don't transfer money in first before making the payment??

You need a premier account to use a credit card, and there will be small charges. Use this link to sign up PayPal (https://www.paypal.com/refer/pal=ANQ5QSWLELL7E), you get $5 free for signing up, plus i get $5 too for refering you :D I know its cheeky :p but its worth a try....
