Just got back from Guildford Cruise
The Police decided to put into action one of their fantastic plans
They stopped all the traffic at a busy set of lights, had queues going back for miles. A lot of people simply got out of their cars they had to wait so long. (Loudest ever synchronised horn blowing session!)
They then instructed anyone who either looked young, or drove something sporty in their opinion(including diesel corsa's), or had more than one passenger, into a car park. I think they then proceeded to hand out a whole load of producers. The idea being to discourage "cruisers" from attending.
Then they came out with a classic.
"We want all these people to hold their cruise in a confined space rather than having them out on the roads everywhere"
Fair enough but...
The funny thing is, everyone always used to park in this car park, then go chat or whatever. It was the police who closed off the car park every month, and booked people if they tried to enter!
It was the police force's actions that ended up with more cars on the road rather than parked up!
Once they had a car park full, every officer then went over to it to inspect the cars, (a lot of photos taken too). That of course left the drag strip unpoliced again!
Surely the issuing of producers is meant to occur for a specific reason or suspicion??
And surely it is a breach of civil liberties to inhibit a person's journey in such a way, forcing them to detour into a closed road when no reason is given?
Men & Motors were filming it too.
And W*nker of the month goes to the scooter rider who decided to do a wheely for the crowd, and went right over backwards! Flat on his back, then police booking!
