Interesting weekend, blasted upto Brummie land on Sat morning, then across to Lincolnshire during the afternoon.

Embarrassed a few BMs around Birmingham, but by the time I'd hit the M18, frankly I was knackered after 4 hours driving and just taking it easy, cruising along at 85.

Part way through, do the usual check in the rear view mirror only to find a police marked Omega behind me, lights flashing and the works. I'm thinking, oh sh@te, here goes 3 points. So, promptly pull over, only to watch him blast away from me, obviously after someone else...phew!!!

Teach me to not check the mirrors more regularly.

Hmm reminds me, beware of a white 325 bmw, x-plater IIRC last seen on the A1M north of Hatfield.

Looked kosher, nice alloys, no forrest's of ariels etc. Just a pop up 'stop police' sign in the rear parcel shelf.
He was donateing a ticket to a stopped rep-mobile when I passed.

Cheers - Oh pls let me know if this isn't in the spirit of the bbs..

You're very lucky cos 85 is a real crime, unlike murder/rape etc.

same ish happened to me on saturday, on my lenghthed journey home 80 miles in wrong direction!! anyway, when it was taddling it down so hard u coul;dn't see 10 feet in front, was doing about 90-95 really stupid i know, but anyway, was in ther outside lane the whole time, then started driving past a cop car thinking ****e!! slow right down, copper gives me a funny look( saw him in corner of eye, didn't dare look at him then he'd know somehting was up!) he was doing exactrly 70mph the bastrad on the A14, so i do 71mph and crawl past him then when i get so far ahead i couldn't see him, probably about 20 yeards then i blatted it in true fear (he was in one of those fast volvo esates) when i felt i had left him a comfortable distance behind me, i slowed down to about 85 and by now whether was lurvly. then i suppose it musty have been about 10-15 miles since i overtook him, saw flashing lights coming hooning up behind me i shat my self, took foot off of accelerator, moved into inside lane (didn't want to brake makes tooo obvious that i was goign to fast) and he just blasts past me then does a Uy and goes hammering down the other side of the a14(one of those dodgy junction bits alows u to do it) i thought that was f'n lucky

No you carry on, the majority here have very little confidence or respect for the police. :)
As JB states quite correctly that they seem to think 85mph is a far more hienous crime than rape & robbery etc.

Well .. not really .. after all, he didnt stop you did he ?? ..... but I am sure he would have done if you were driving along Raping someone or murduring them in the back seat.

....... Then again you are probably right .. had you been doing that, you know you would have only got a ticket for dangerous driving :D :D :D

Well I've found out why the police didn't pull me on Sat afternoon.

Seems that they were on the way to a parked Fiesta on the motorway. The owner had apparently run out of fuel and had suffered heart failure whilst trying to push his motor.

I know that some of you guys have had some bad run ins with the boys in blue, but they really do have a thankless job. I'm just happy that we have someone around to deal with this kind of thing.

I think we should be putting forward a vote of thanks to them for trying to keep england a better place.

As for the deceased, RIP.

Bout time as well ... I am getting tired, single handedly defending the police

They have always been as nice as pie to me when I
have been pulled over by them, arrested by them and have called them out.

Guess I am one of the lucky ones :)

Even when I tried stealing the flashing lights off one of there cars, they saw the funny side of it :D ...... probably helped I was p1ssed out my head ...... they even gave me a lift back home.

I'm quite happy to defend the police.

At the end of the day, they exist because we want to have some form of protection, so I find it amazing that some people will go out of their way to make the job of the cops any more difficult than it is already.

For example, I understand that we have something like half the number of police per head of population when you compare London to say New York. I was astounded when I read that (couple of months ago), as I always got the impression that NY was a pretty unsafe place to be.
And why have we less? Because our taxes are being spent on something else instead.

Either way, that's getting off the point. The police are underfunded and undervalued.
The same people who moan about police "oppression" are almost certainly the ones first to bitch and moan the lack of police when their girlfriend/wife gets raped.

Come on guys, you all appear to be a smart bunch, we should be supporting the cops. If we do, probably pay less in taxes as a result and also end up not worrying so much about whether our kids will end up as drug pushers or beaten to crap on the way back from a friends place.

hmmm .... if my previous posts have anything to go by .. now is the time to duck .. I estimate about 300 mails complaining about

1) being pulled doing 71 in a 70
2) police not giving a feck when my car was vandallised
3) should be out catching real criminals and not petty ones
4) bad attitude cops
5) Chips not being on tv any more

are about to explode into this thread

DUCK !!!!!

I reckon 85 is pretty safe
I might just be lucky but I'll generally overtake the law at about 80-85 as long as its not raining, busy, towards a pileup they are attending etc. ;) and I havent been pulled for it yet. I reckon as long as you arent being a nuisance, using the inside lane, indicating and not driving like a prat with your arse out of the window (it can be done ;) )or anything they'll tend to letcha get on with it. I have been flashed or overtaken by the law at 90+ a few times on an (empty) motorway ..............
Having said this, my "luck" could just be down to my effortless charm and general aura of honesty ............. ;) :D
