Could have been anyone, coolant spilt at the wrong place, next person (on cool down lap going steady) on track hits it then .........
Makes the case for trackday insurance stronger
Ouch!
That's a gutter :(
What is the 2nd car to hit the wall?
I thought it might be a Prelude or similar!?!?
Alg
Yep, a Prelude.
Horrible to watch
def considering insurance for Cadwell now after this and the chat last night re. rallydrive. things can go wrong all too easily

I am going to try different insurance companies who offer trackday cover with the policy this year, otherwise its just too expensive. Looking at the trackday insurance policies though, you have a large excess and they will not pay any claims for accidents due to negligence, which TBH sounds like a very easy way for the insurance comapany to get out of paying :(
Bob, you'll be fine at cadwell ;) just dont try keeping up with kev......
My mate rolled his focus RS on a track day when a skyline pissed all its cooland out on a corner. Apprently he had been doing about 100 then braked for the corner lost it on the coolant then couldnt make the corner due to excess speed. He ended up on the grass and apprently rolled it a few times. Luckily he was ok and had track insurance and got a new focus.
Quite lucky really, if he had no insurance he would be fooked.

Dave (exboyracer) on the HondaRevolutions forum saw the caterham and was gonna go around him, hit the coolant and lost control...
horrible accident, stomach dropped when i saw it for the first time... :(
Looks from the vid he was a victim of the wet F1 astro turf :(

Nope, deffo coolant, read the thread on the BAT forums for info from the actual drivers and people present.
Yeah thats what I ment. Coolent on the astro turf = extra extra slippy
Its looks like it was on the kurb which would have made it stupidly slippery as it is.

ouch!
they should go on a drift day, learn to catch those slides! :) in all seriousness though, that prelude didn't seem to react as quick as he could, I suppose he was very lit up over that brow though, had a stab of the brakes when he saw that caterham then it all went tits up - he might not have hit the wall so hard if he took evasive action as soon as he felt the backend go.. saying that, you don't want to be hitting the poor caterham guy at full speed... one of those split-second things I suppose.
Coolant is incredibly soapy, did you see how the caterham snapped, no way back!

What's the thread called? I get a list from your link and none of them appear to be obvious :)

Pictures from spa, about 5th post down (Jon Raettig) onwards .... and the the driftworks post onwards
Devastated, I've seen my bonnet jump up in front of me so I really feel for those guys. Terrifying that must have been. But yes, trackday insurance is vital!

That is fairly horrific. Its very lucky the guy getting out of the cat wasn't seriuosly hurt the the prelude hit his car. :indiff:

Saw this a while back on Exiges.com. Very scary :(
 That didn't give any warning
That there is the reason you need a good rollcage, not for the initial impact, but for the ones that can follow. I once saw a car on its side after a roll get hit full on in the roof by another car...
I hope the guy getting out of the caterham was not badly injured when the Honda hit him.
Motorsport is dangerous, thats why its exciting.
Rob
fcukin ell that was nasty
Nobody suffered anything more than minor injuries and fookered cars  everyone was lucky to get away with that.
