Howide.

Does anyone know of a racing series that modified S13's may be able to enter?

I'm thinking along the lines of modified saloons or something. Ideally where a degree of tuning is allowed. Any ideas?

Cheers!

Look out for Britcar (i think).

Nemesis Performance are running a modified Type R in a national series. There are plenty to look out for - give me a few days (after the weekend as i am going racing at Donny Park) and i will find some for you.

SM posted up about a sprint series that you may be interested in. Should be further down this forum.

Theres little in the way of circuit racing, both Bren and Jez have looked for a suitable series. Sprints / Hillclimbs thats about it.

I was looking into mx5racing... but given the fact that they're just 1.6 NA, I'm thinking it'd be a bit tame... shame we can't do what the MX5 boys have done and start our own race series

...I know there's drifting, but I'm not into that, unless it's by accident :D :D

Yep its there, www.nemesisperformance.net

I did hear they weren't making alot from the public well not as much as they expected, problem to me was always that they suddenly popped up with huge prices they had some excellent project cars but the costs were really high

AFAIK Britcar is endurance racing - not what my 200 would be looking for :wack:

I would  best form of racing I think, if very costly.

Have you raced before then?
For novices, I would think 1600cc is more than enough to be getting on with

Only Karts matey, just seems a little sad racing round in a car that's 1/3rd the power of my road car!... I've also looked at http://750mc.co.uk ...they've a decent 1000cc motorcycle class, that'd be more fun :D

Right, done a bit more info and there seems two good ways into racing:

1) Mk1 MR2 series - cheap, mid-engined rwd so plenty of action. Plus they're having a class for supercharged versions next year I think.

2) Britcar - visited Mardi Gras Motorsport on Sunday (Silverstone), and the Nemesis car was there (amongst a few other Britcars, Civic, Integra, Porsche 996  )

Basically, if you want to run an S13 in Britcar, pretty much any engine/turbo/suspension modifications are allowed, but any car with forced induction has 1.5 litres added to their capacity for calculating the classes.

So basically a 1.8 turbo S13 would be up against cars with n/a engines up to and including 3.3 litres. So I think cars like the M3-engined 'Boost' Mini.

I reckon that means if you had enough money, a 500-odd bhp S13 could be quite competitive.

I've been doing a lot of research into this for the past while. There are loads and loads of racing championships in the UK.

This thread (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=214825&f=42&h=0) on Pistonheads is pretty good, listing a fair few alternatives, along with pros & cons.

The only non-endurance circuit racing series I've found that would allow a 200sx to run is the NW K&N Sports/Saloon racing championship (http://www.barc.net/northwest/nwestchamp.htm) as I posted here (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=181516) :)

I ignored BritCar as AFAIK it's a very expensive endurance series - costs of several thousands pounds per event  A 500bhp s13 may well be competitive speed-wise, but I doubt its reliability would be up there with the Porkers.

Thinking outside of the 200sx box, the most promising options I've found for novices are, IMO:

Caterham Graduates - http://www.graduates.org.uk/ - a series that sprung out of the Caterham Academy series a few years ago. Basic 1.6 Caterhams with very tightly controlled specifications. Ready-to-race cars are ~£7-8k

Westfield SCRDA - http://www.wscrda.co.uk/ - similar, albeit perhaps slightly less tightly controlled specs, from what I've read. 1.8 Zetec Westies are used. Rady-to-race cars cost ~£6-12k, depending on previous results and provenance.

SELOC-Milltek BMW Challenge - http://www.selocmotorsport.com/ - just found ths one today. They run stipped out E30 318i/320i BMWs, and the whole series is designed to be as cheap to run in as possible. Ready-prepped cars for sale at ~£3-3.5k

seams like its hillclimbs and sprints for me then dont think i will be going over 300 at hubs for a year unless i get some massive overtime or a big payrise to pay for the gearbox etc...

That SELOC BMW Challenge series looks VERY interesting.. I saw a E30 318i for sale for £495 on autotrader just now too...

Hmmm.... *goes off and ponders finances*
