http://www.mappy.co.uk/ with calais at start destination and nurburg as end destination
I just got back mate, went last weekend it was the best most exciting enjoyable thing I have ever done (yes, even more than that!)
Just go on the E40 all the way from Calais, takes you all the way to Aachen then try this
http://www.multimap.com/map/aproute.cgi?client=public&startx=682012&starty=6552095&endx=0&endy=0&startrd=&starttown=Aachen&startpc=52080&startcountry=DE&endrd=&endtown=nurburg&endpc=&endcountry=DE&rn=EU&qs=q&starttime=12:44&input_rt=aproute_pan&lang=

so its basically pretty straight forward right up until the last bit?
how long did the drive from calais take you?
The way there was about 3 hours, with 1hr 15 getting lost in Brussell :wack: (took the wrong turn) so 4hrs15.
The way back was faster  :D

nice. hope i doing get losted aswell.
you should be ok, just stick to the E40 - its goes around Brussells. Just watch yourself in Aachen - its quite big.
Best thing to do is get off the E40 at junction 3, and look for the Europlatz in Aachen - its a big roundabout with a fountain in the middle (I mean big!) then take the turn off the roundabout for the A544 and then head for the A1, you should see signs for the nurburg ring.
There is a nurburg circuit there as well, before you get to the ring. The turn off for the ring is the next left after the curcuit, then through a small villiage, follow that road and the signs should take you the rest of the way.

which ones that?
i hope you arent referring the to the "suspension testing road"!!!!! that was ****ing terrible... had to drive at around 30 while crossing from one side of the road to the other to avoid the pot holes.
Dont speed (too much) through Belgium cos you get shafted. And watch out when you leave the ring at the end of the day cos the police sometimes set up road blocks and want to see all your documents. We got stopped when I was in a german hire car (the 200 broke), with my mate behind in his P1 and the police walked straight past me laughing that they were going to have some fun with the English bloke  (I had German plates ;) ).

oh no!!
i overtook purplepower in my wifes focus (that is lowered just 35mm) at about 50-55mph and i swear the back end of the focus was coming off the ground  james was just traveling at about 40-50mph behind a caravan and being sensible and not knowing the road but half sure this was the suspension testing road he stayed behind the caravan, me being a pratt and not worring about the arse end steering on the bumps as im FWD decided to overtake him and the caravan, the only problem was that once i was out and overtaking i was comitted as traffic was approaching so i had to nail it well as fast as a 2.0l focus can go and BLOODY 'ELL ive never been so scared.
20+ speed bumps all in a line at 50ish mph would seem about the closest i could get to explain the kind of bumps in the road but this road is about 4 or so miles long!
its is the longest, bumpiest road ive ever been on thats for sure.
belive me you will know when your on it, oh and if your in a super smooth JAG :ghey: like Brens ( :D ) and you cant feel it then its the road 3/4 of the way there going up hill with lots of trees either side of the road, well its more like a large track than a road.
all of a sudden i think Brens a clever boy taking the JAG

hahaha suspension testing road?
You MUST mean the end of the 257, just inside Belgium. Somebody's painted over the "Welcome to Belgium" sign with "Highway to Hell"!

Thats definitely the 258, around Eupen / Monschau. I took the bike to the 'Ring in June, was a bit pushed for time to meet the rest of the gang at the track, so nailed it hard. One of the guys had warned us about the "Highway To Hell" but we took his words with a pinch of salt(fools!). It's roughly a 10 mile stretch of concrete road with a surface that is breaking up, very badly in some places. It's virtually dead straight with a slight curve midway. We were doing 80-100mph for most of it, getting thrown out of our seats and hanging on for dear life!! Luckily it seems to be almost totally ignored by the locals so traffic was very light.
If you ever get the opportunity, go to Nurburgring for a weekend. Even if you just sit in the bar by either of the entrances and soak up the atmosphere, you'll enjoy it!! Travel the B258 from the E40- beautiful roads. I'm taking the S14 next year, sorting the suspension & brakes in readiness!!!!
2ish hours from Calais, is that all!?
Never really thought about it before I just presumed it was a LONG LONG way away!!

Super Retard, please dont live up to your name.
Original Post, only bit worth keeping
An average 'spirited' drive is more like 4-hours. I went with a club last year and it took 5 hours... 70mph all the way!

Right, that's in YOUR opinion.
What about the bit pointing that a claim of 1hr40mins from 'ring to Calais is stupid? That would be an average of over 180mph...
Easy with the edit button dude! :whip:
Well my, and the mod who reported your post opinions are important here, as are the rules. I have also edited the other stupid post.
If you go to http://www.routenet.nl/?language=GB
At departure, you punch in:
Street:Trierer Str. 672
City: Aachen
Country: Germany
At least, this is where I alway drive from, I live a 10 miles from there, that adress is a grocery store, you can alway pick up some food, check the car and buy things you have forgotten (like toothbrushes!) .
At destination, you punch in:
Postal Code: 53520
City: Nurburg
or the hotel you're staying.
Than it gives you the route over the Autobahn A4, A1 etc, but that is far less fun. So on top of the screen ,select at Settings, Optimalisation 'Shortest' route and recalculate.
Now, you will be given a route shorter but SO , SOOOO much more fun and beautifull to drive, first time I drove it I had the best time of my life, seriously.
It guides you thru forests, bends uphill, bends downhill, long straights, 180 degree turns etc. etc. Real great to drive, sometimes you drive uphill and only see the horizon, than reaching the top it goes down like to the middel of the earth, amazing :smitten:
There are only 2 Gatso's, 1 in the forest in the beginning of the route, 30km/h and one near Simmerath, 50km/h after a bend up hill, just after the bridge. I passed both at 20km/h too fast I believe but still didn't got a fine but it was 20th August so maybe they'll come. But fines in Germany arent high and you get a real cool pic of you driving, so IMO, it's even worth it to drive by faster :wack: .
