Video of DRY LAP (http://media.putfile.com/Rallydrive)
Video of DAMP (scary) LAP (http://media.putfile.com/Rallydrive2)
Video of Dazza's overexhuberance (http://media.putfile.com/DazOvercookin)

The Venue

Rallydrive is 10 miles south of Scnuthorpe just outside the village of Blyton, and is sited on a disused WWII airfield in the middle of a cornfield. As it is not a pure racing track in the mould of Donnington or Oulton, the surface is a little rough and there are some potholes (imagine TopGears track). The circuit itself has been set up to challenge the balance and handling of the professional racing and rally teams whom use it as a test facility, and so provides plenty of fun on its 1 1/4 mile lap.

Schedule

The venue will be ours for the whole day from our arrival at (hopefully ) 8.30am to sometime around 4.30pm, allowing plenty of track time for everybody. We will continue with our successful 4 token system with 4 cars on track at a time. Previous experience shows that most people do 3-6 laps (5-10 minutes) and then come off for a breather so everyone should get as much time as they want.

Facilities

Facilities are somewhat spartan so it's recommended that you bring your own refreshments, picnic chairs & tables and prepare for any bad weather we may have (let's hope for some rain ). I'm sure the WYIOC gayzebo will be making an appearance, along with one (or more) BBQ's

Don't forget your sausages, burgers and rolls for the BBQ

Costs

As before, this is a non-profit event organised purely for the fun and enjoyment of Scooby and other performance car owners, and the costs are to be shared equally and hence the price cannot be finalised until the day when we know exactly how many are there. As an example, if we have...
15 cars it will be £40,
20 cars is £30,
25 cars £25.

DONT FORGET YOUR EXTRA MONEY - IE COST OVER DEPOSIT

Tuition

Tuition will be available hopefully from the venue owner Howard Patterson, who has been an international rally driver competing succesfully for over 30 years. Many of the guys have had tuition from him or his staff in the past and will confirm its merits to anyone interested. The cost is £150, shared equally between those involved.

Getting there

We will meet up at 7.30am at Ferrybridge Services on the M62 to group up for a convoy to the venue

SAFETY

Last but foremost in everybodies minds must be safety. On track we run 4 cars at a time with NO OVERTAKING. Any measurement of abilitiy will be done with a stopwatch. Off track everyone MUST observe a strict 5 mph limit. There will be people, and possibly children walking around the paddock area. Anyone thought to be endangering safety shall have a single warning, then be asked to leave the premises with no refund. Thankfully it has never come close to this, and I doubt it ever will.

Helmets must be worn by anyone in a vehicle on track, driver or passenger, so if you have your own it is advised you bring it, otherwise Rallydrive have a selection of sweaty used ones to lend us for the day.

CLICKY to show you what went on last time, and the time before CLICKY. Many of the pics have been cleared out, so maybe we could sort out a WYIOC Photobucket account with the password made known to members for anyone to drop suitable shots into for use by anyone in the club

Legal Bit

Your payments will be made directly to Rallydrive, and you will be asked to sign a disclaimer fully accepting that you understand the dangers of driving in an unrestricted area and that you accept full liability for your own actions and any consequencies resulting. Your contract of sale shall be with Rallydrive. By accepting to attend this event you also accept these terms and conditions.

SM
21-09-2005, 14:56
Yep  handy for all of use except the Sheffield twosome who have to pass the venue to meet us. Si Webb is used to not using the straightest route anyway so no worries :wack:

Hi Kev, I dont suppose there's any spaces left for this is there? I've just booked Cadwell and this looks a little bit more forgiving as a little practise :)

SM

It was invites from West Yorks Imprezza Owners Club, part of Scoobynet, you can find the thread on Scoobynet and ask the organisers.

SM

Drivers licence required? I know you need it for those book a track days, so I sent off for the replacement 1.5 weeks ago and its still not here

I'm not sure Swebb can make it, but dont want to speak for him/rule him out on the basis of the conversation last Sat.

Edit: Just checked the scoobynet thread and they are talking about letting 15 year olds out on the track  , so that anaswers the driving license question I guess.

You better ask about licenses on Scoobynet

balls - just put my new track wheels on the car and one has a puncture :( best get that fixed then.

std s14 wheels free to a good home if anyone wants them (Kev? - for your collection ;) ) not legal tread on the tyres but might be a dry session in them if you push it.

edit - and my tyre bloke has just been on the phone and the sidewall is split as well :(

lucky i had a spare pair of tyres
should be all set for tomorrow

SM
30-09-2005, 12:50
I'll always have more wheels  you know me.
If there isnt much life left in them you should take them and kill them on Sat
I cant grab them Sat as the car will already be full :wack: but I can do one evening mascrat if you can fit them in.

No overtaking!!??

Can we run slicks?

SM
30-09-2005, 13:11
Do you really want to run slicks on a airfield?
But yes, you can.

Overtaking - We'll just have to pick who goes out with who carefully.

Bren - Remember my airfield wheels please

Yak
30-09-2005, 13:22
If the width of the track is as thin as it looks on the vids i can see why there is no over taking.

Bren: Any chance you could bring some pads for me along with you?

30-09-2005, 22:24
Thats good :) and I will be bringing my old wheels but dont really have the tools without going and borrowing them. Do you bring different sized sockets or just the right size for your wheels cos the alloys on me car have a different sized wheel nut to the standard ones.

SM
30-09-2005, 22:27
I'll probably take a scocket set, Bren will be towing and I imagine with full toolkit, afterall he has a S13 :p

bren
30-09-2005, 22:28

I dont want to slow you down, I have a trailer dont forget :( Have you got a postcode?

Im taking the rally moulded slicks and will have the Toyo 888s as back up but I really dont want to have top run them as theyll get shredded. The slicks are staying where they are ;)

SM
30-09-2005, 22:36
Well its a convoy, it will go as slow as the slowest car hopefully. Apparently its easy to miss, theres directions on scoobynet, and Engine swap was there today, he's probably best qualified to answer

bren
30-09-2005, 22:36
Kev, Its "no more , coilovers fitted". I got a scare with your crap punctuation :p

The commas in bold btw, it just doesnt show up too well ;)

We will aim for the convoy then, just dont moan at me if we slow you all down too much  :)

SM
30-09-2005, 22:38
lol, its an old pic too, but I dont have access to my sig webspace anymore, and I suppose it only pops up every 100-odd views :p

Just got in (had dinner at my Mum & Dads after dropping the old man off) and thought I'd pop in to all the relevent forums to express my thanks to all whom made today an excellent one. Best turnout yet, and mostly due to the other marques as the Scooby lot are getting very boring in their old age ! After the fun today I will almost definately be organising another next year, most likely late March/early April, so I'll be sure to post an invite up here again.

Pics are starting to flood in over on Scoobynet (look in the "Gallery" and "WYIOC Events") and I'll montage all my little vid clips up if I get chance tomorrow and put it on Putfile, so be sure to check them all out and see if you're famous.

Thanks again, David.

The connector came off the map sensor! A bit of a bugger, as had I spotted it straight away, we would have been able to start it again and carry on. All sorted now, and drove home fine, just got to sort the slight cosmetic damage where we ballsed up on getting it on the trailer...

Bren was quick as expected, but struggled with Laaaaaaaaaaaaag on his big turbo and a tight, twisty 1st-3rd gear course.

Aye, the lag was horrible and forced me into grabbing first on a couple of corners which made for a not very smooth drive :(

Was a lot of fun but by far the scariest course Ive ever been to because of the intermittant piles of concrete, potholes, no marshals etc

Cant complain for 25 quid though, bargain  :D

It was my second track day but first in the 200 and would thoroughly recommend it to all. Before saturday I was scared of losing the back end where as now although I dont have any finnese when it comes to controling the back end it does'nt worry me anymore  I had a fantastic day with plenty of hairy moments and cant wait until Cadwell where hopefully I'll get that passenger ride Bren :p

You looked very quick, the back end was squirming around a lot round the quicker corners as you put the power down, looked very fast. I struggled to gain on you in the s13 because despite the power advantage and rally slicks youd just feck off out of the corners whilst I waited patiently for the turbo to wake up   :wack:

Nitrous is being fitted before the next track day

You looked very quick, the back end was squirming around a lot round the quicker corners as you put the power down, looked very fast. I struggled to gain on you in the s13 because despite the power advantage and rally slicks youd just feck off out of the corners whilst I waited patiently for the turbo to wake up   :wack:

Nitrous is being fitted before the next track day

Cheers Bren :D, Cant wait till Cadwell, I want it to be NOW!!! :D

I've got hold of some nice light wheels for track, 255's on back with 225's on front, I think semi slicks should complement my suspension work, new engine and brake upgrade :D

Its gonna be several months at least before I can afford both the track day and semi slicks though.... should be fun next year ;) :p

I have just started the ball rolling on another one in late March or April next year. I do hope some more of you guys will join us again next time and make it another success and great fun.

Seasons Greetings from myself, and all the WYIOC (West Yorks Impreza Owners Club).
