View Full Version : Pheww!!!!
Finally got round to getting my engine out tonight (I've been putting it off incase it was propper fecked) :wack:
After having too much fun at terminal velocity where I managed to get the oil temps off the end of my temp gauge (250f) I killed the big ends due to the oil getting too thin :indiff:
most of the bearings are fecked with copper showing on a lot of them, the Pauter rods are OK though  they have got a bit hot but the sizes are all perfect
I've got another crank to go in (stolen from Bigtone's engine) and a new set of bearings was delivered today (thanks Mr. Norris). Got all the other parts I need from Nissan so will be rebuiling it tomorrow evening ready for refitting :)
As is normally the case, it's broke so I might as well uprate it a bit more :wack: only an HKS 264 inlet cam going in, but this should help my tubo spool up a bit quicker and also release a bit more power :D
Nice one,im in a similar situation,,pauters are fine in my engine too,but ive had to use my spare crank as the bearings failed a fair bit.Hot oils a real killer on CA's.
 about 230f is the max the oil should be.
Pauter rods :notworthy
Well done buff. Lotta engine stuff goin on at the mo :wack:
Butuz
I'm crap with engine internal's but the upgrades sound good anyway :D
What could have prevented damage?better oil?oil cooler?better driver?i'm not takin the p*ss just interested :D

Good news Mike. :)
Other than being less excitable and the possibility of hot oil did you find any other evidence of what might have caused it?
Oh, when the Phill's prodrive mates were plaing with their new lump they found the oil cooler gave a 1 bar pressure drop before and after it.

I found a split in the ajusa o ring at the end of the pickup pipe again :indiff: that's the second one now
I bought a nissan set this time, which works out better value than the ajusa one :wack:

As if I have had time to fit it LOL. It's sat in the garage along with a front arb and rear toe arms :wack:
Did the crank look better than mine :wack:
Atleast you salvaged the rods
Buffys got no time for chatting on here - he's starting a new project tomorrow night
