Was at the Punchestown Rally Experience yesterday just outside
Dublin. All top Irish WRC's and guest star Colin McRae. Plenty
of doo-nuts and drifting by McRae and other drivers, Unbelievable to watch.

There were a few rallycross cars there. Dermot Carnegie in a Focus with between 700-800 bhp. Those cars are just violence.
I was beside it at the start line. He revved it full for takeoff.
The turbo spooling up was the same noise as a jet engine and
the pressuse coming out of the exhaust was creating a dust cloud. Dropped the cluth and bang, 100 mph.

McRae drove it for 1 lap. When he crossed the finish there was a huge smile on his face.

I need 800 bhp.

Rallycross is ace, it's almost like a mini-successor to Group B - anything goes in engine tech virtually.

The Citrox Xsara rallycross car set a 0-60 record a while ago but obviously not being a production car it wasn't something that would stay in the record books. "Can keep up with an F1 car to 60mph" was the quote banded around. Who is the bloke in the yellow Saab old-skool style turbo? That spends most of its rally life sliding from corner to corner, as does that (british?) bloke in the Astra, but I think that's some other league to the people you mention

Anyone know if Sky Sports still cover it?

I think it's still shown on a programme called 'max power'(sky sports 2 i think), they cover all the classes...it's excellent:D
