But with the money I've already spent this year on car related stuff and the rebuild in october, if I do go it will be a last minute booking
Might do, but I'm not sure if I'll have a trackable car in November...
Doh, already pre-booked for that weekend :)

Car booked for Cadwell - 700bhp S14a :smash:
bit wishfull thinking that, doubt you'll even have the chassis prepped, and even if it was ready I've booked snow  as it was too easy in the rainstorm and fog :ghey:
If you want, i can come and take some pictures for you guys.
Dont really think the 1.6 Toyota is up to the track
Car booked for Cadwell - 700bhp S14a :smash:
No way it will be down for Cadwell, not a chance  Ann and I are off next week and will spend a couple of days completely stripping everything off the car except the parts needed to keep it rolling :) then we can start on the seam wleding, then onto the proper weld in cage, then to the body shop.
In the meantime Ill keep gathering the parts ready for when the shells finished. Its going to take ages though :(
No way it will be down for Cadwell, not a chance
I know, but thats what car you booked with BAT.

Hi guys, you'll be having some company from us over at FCCUK
I've decided to knock the Donnington idea on the head until next year.
Here's the thread - Cadwell (http://www.fccuk.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=496623&an=0&page=0#496623)
Oh, and if you'd like we can share the free instructor with you too.
Top News Dave, dont be passing me though, its my birthday trackday.
Sorry, didnt think to drop a thread on your forum, you'll notice theres a sticky thread which I keep all the trackday booking up to date on in this section.
Sig has a link to a 20mb vid from the last time at Cadwell.
Also - plans are afoot for some sprinting next year, hopefully we can do some common events.

Did you see my vid, I was passed by a Saxo :hurl: (race spec rally car with pro driver in the wet, at least thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

No, I wanted some luxuries, so I have the full fat 172, with no mods.
Yes, I saw the vid, the Saxo didn't really get away from you though mate, and at least you kept it safe. :)
Dr Bob and SteA thinking about it.
It would be my first trackday with my new engine, brakes etc  so it would be nice to compare while cadwell is still fresh in my mind :p
And I do really like cadwell. Practically I will have to hope for last minute places left as the car will only be finished 3 weeks before that and you know what its like relying on big jobs being finished on time :wack: if all goes to plan the engine will just be ran in with a teeny weeny bit of unnecessary driving :D wont be mapped to any where near its full advantage but hey ho.
And it would be so nice to have more cars to play with that can still drive quickly in the wet, it looks like the fiat boys have some nice cars coming..... as you never know the weather might be a bit off :wack:
Dave, why no coupe? Although the clio will be fun ;)

Dave, why no coupe? Although the clio will be fun
I have a business www.aqualifeleasing.co.uk :Plug: , alongside which i've been working full time as a team trainer for Virgin Mobile. Basically, i'd had enough of working 7 days a week for years, and gave my job up full time. I knew that this would be a big hit financially and i'd have had to resort to abusing the platic if something big failed on the Coupe.
My fiance also had a Golf TDi, so we decided it best to sell both cars and get a lower mileage hot hatch. :( It's not my cup of team but it is quite fun, and in another year or two I hope to back in another Coupe or better (NOT an SX :p ;) ).
Still, the car went out in style - a SELOC sprint, followed the next day by a 2800 mile Europe trip to Monaco, Alps, Italy, Lake Garda (where I then proposed), Stelvio, Austria, Autobahns ;) , Nurburgring and then home.
The car is now owned by another enthusiast on the forum which i'm happy about.
I said the other day I was going to do this, but I've decided to book the non open session Elvington day (October 1st) instead as it will be my first track day.

That's probably a sensible choice, just watch out for tyre wear! :(
http://www.trackdays.co.uk/Circuits/Cadwell-Park.htm
Click on the corners for a circuit guide (found by the fiat boys  )
Example ....
Between Mansfield and Mountain the track kinks to the left, if you've negotiated Mansfield correctly you should be able to straight line to the Mountain and again overtake people here.
Turn in as late as possible as the track goes left and uphill for the start of the Mountain aim to be over to the left hand side in readiness for the right-hander. Clip the right hand apex and head towards the brow of the mountain. Try to be at the mid-point of the track so you can straight line over the summit. Drive hard and keep over to your left and be prepared to turn in to the right just after you pass the paddock entrance

Oh dear 5 plays 8 :(
Can anybody recommend a local B&B?
What about Jez? Big tone? Wallers? full metal gasket? Kuddy? can't think of many more :(
Theres a local guy on the Fiat Forum who knew some B&B - maybe PM/ask him.
Or speak to Steve@EMS or any of the grimsby posse.
My house is a hovel, and the wong side of the country, you would have to be desperate but ......
Jez, its too far for his loud car, and he is a little bit :ghey: :p
Tone - Dunno?
Wallers? Dunno?
Tim? - To far and to skint although he is maybe persudeable he fancies the course.
Kuddy - :ghey: ness of the highest order means no trackaction at all for him this year

Im a little put off by the narrowness of the track and the close proximity of those nasty barriers and walls ! Oh and torrential rain ;)
I would love to go but feel I need some practice in the car before getting involved with this kind of stuff  Another write of in the next 2yrs will kill my NCB & put my performance car ownership back for 4years :( Not a risk I fancy taking with a 6k car.
Maybe I should buy an old S12/S13 for trackdays :D

I've never had any problems with my Coop in all the trackdays and sprints i've done. They are good and reliable even as standard as long as you don't go made and do too many hot laps in a row. Mine was fine at the Ring, having just covered 2500 miles round Europe in the previous week (waits for Kev to bash on about how many laps in a row he does  :p ).
I might take the clio though  :D

Well shopping trollies arent designed for the track, and most coupe owners arms get to tired after 3 laps, very limp wristed as a rule :ghey:
they overheat the brakes Phil, which is odd as they have huge Brembo's on, maybe its lack of decent pads although pretty sure I've seen Ferado DS2500 for the Fiats and Pagid Blues.
The Fiat guys are into Padgid Blues arent they?
What Clio is it?
Nice :)
Both our S13 and S14 should be done for the track day :)

I'm interested Kev, can more than one person drive the same car? Me and two mates are building a Mk1 MR2 track car, so we'd like to run that :)
Raz
Edit: Just searched through their site, it says a max of 2 drivers per car :( I'll have to chat with my mates and see what they want to do.
I haven't been to Cadwell since I put my CBR6 end over end coming out of the Gooseneck, 2 years ago  Awesome track!
If you speak to Jonny5 nicely he may allow 3 drivers of the same car, you can have 2 drivers for no extra charge, often on trackdays it can be £25-£50 for a second driver, but not with Book-a-Track :D

Thanks for the Link Kev
No! By 'hot' laps I meant very fast laps! i.e as long as the Coop boys are sensible and don't do too many fast laps in a row, their cars should be fine. If their cars are sensibly modded, they will be fine to do as many laps as they want. As standard, the front brakes (too much heat) and small intercooler are the biggest weakness in the set up.
All 20VTs had Brembo calipers and the same size discs, just on the later plus models they were painted red.
Yes, Pagids have been excellent on our cars, i've never had any fade using blues or greys.

And there's the endless problem with my finances :smash:
I may make it - failing that I'm still intending on a proper trackday oop north early next year.

Fishy Dave (FCC organiser) went last week in his Clio, on a special renault day, here is his vid
http://www.aqualifeleasing.co.uk/images/Cadwell%20Renaultbb.wmv
and report ...
What a great day for me, my first Renault trackday and of course my first visit to Cadwell.
Cadwell has now become my favourite circuit, can't wait to go back there next month and get some more practise. The mountain and gooseneck are excellent, the feeling of drift and and wheels going light beneath you is not something you experience on many tracks (that i've been on). You guys will love it, the Coupe will be getting it's wheels off the floor over the mountain, the Clio V6s were able to spin their rear wheels, as well as us spinning the fronts.
Excellent supervision throughout from the motorsport vision guys and friendly, efficient organisation from the Renault guys and gals. I've said it before, but i'm still pleasantly surprised at having a manufacturer get involved in this kind of activity - IMO this is a great way to ensure brand loyalty. Just a shame that Fiat don't do this :(
This was my first outing on track for me in the 172, and I soon found it to be an excellent handling car, with great on limit habits. Only problem I had was with the brakes - standard pads are not upto more than 3 hard laps before getting major fade, which nearly ended in tears at the hairpin!(I should listen to my own advice about the amount of hot laps!) Best part of the day for me was chasing the a black 182 and V6 for 3 laps, I had to drive stupidly hard to keep them in sight, and could stick with them for some sections, but would lose out on the longer straights, and not be able to claw the gap back. It was good to see that on this track the performance of the V6 and 182s was very similar.
Here is a short video I put together, including a lap from different angles. You will notice that some of my lines leave a bit to be desired, but they did get better later on, honest! [;)]
Right Click, Save As (http://www.aqualifeleasing.co.uk/images/Cadwell%20Renaultbb.wmv)
I would echo what has been said before about it being well worth the time to travel to this circuit - I live in Somerset, and had a 5 1/2 hour journey each way (inc. stops)! It's taken me until today to recover!
I was really impressed with the cars brought along by Renault for us to drive. I sooo wanted to drive the Spider, but it's a show car and no-one was allowed to drive it :(. I also ran out of time to drive the Megane Trophy which was really flying, i'm beginning to really like these.
It is a narrow track, but no-one had any accidents, and only about 2 offs on the grass AFAIK. My best advice would be to really take it easy through Hall bends, they are both difficult and dangerous. The rest of the track, go for it! ;)
p.s i'm going to take the Coupe, should make for a good comparison.
:)
 really looking forward to letting the 200 loose at Cadwell. will have new pads on too as mine are finally lunched following last saturday :)
should be a cracking day. is it worth posting in regional sections that passenger rides will be available?

I've run into problems with the hose replacement now (sheared a stud off the turbo elbow and can't remove the downpipe  ) and will need a garage to help sort it out and replace the stud.
I'm not giving up hope but it looks even less likely I can afford to make this :(

Nah, it will be fine, max 24 cars on the track at any time, BAT enforce considerate driving, it will be good fun :D
Right, the MR2's not going to be ready for this sadly, and the S13's off the road at the moment as well, so I might just come along and video the day.
Any chance of a passenger ride with somebody? :D
Raz
Yup, plenty of people will be giving passengers rides, another advantage of BAT trackdays, free passengers :D

Cheers Kev.
Oh well SteA had already said his car wasnt going to be ready, almost convinced Grahham(TopGearNW) to go once we had fitted an oil cooler to his car so thats out the window.
I've loads to do before I'm ready, refit turbo after tightening all 4 turbine bolts, not just 2 that I could get to, fit wide wing sump and ........ :annoyed: been non-stop bodging these last 6 weeks and its still not sorted :annoyed:

My list of jobs
Cooling ducts to brakes
change brake fluid
Cooling ducting to FMIC
Fit replacement hot side pipe
Change turbo hoses for braided items
iron out bugs in RLTC
finish refurbing rims and fit tyres
:wack:
Why are you fitting a new sump Kev - because you run slicks now? problesm? precaution?
RE: SUMP, precaution due to running slicks, and as Apex Test Bed, its a Apex Wide Wing Sump, hope Bren didnt want it a secret :wack:
I've also got some brake ducts half-made
archenemy.co.uk

I've thought about a sump before but they were too expensive :( cheaper on could be good :)
Any tips on the ducts would be good
I've got guttering end soffets (sp??) which fit well into the bumper, and have a 80(?)mm outlet just need to find some suitable tubing, Demon Tweaks have full brake ducts sets at ~ £40. I'm aiming for half that, but with 10X more hassle :wack:
£195 is a lot for a GReddy sump.
I might also take Vez's advise and get some fuel tank foam, again, its fecking expensive for what it is, also available from Demon Tweaks.
Also ... I'll need my subframe inserts doing before Cadwell, lots of tramping last time, but another long job :( got the inserts though :D
I need to do an oil change.....
errrr...
may be do the brake fuild too....
May be hunt some more rubber

Putting my subframe back on today, having cleaned it off and undersealed it
Getting it off is not such a big deal - disconnect prop, remove calipers & handbrake cables, undo struts, disconnect all the fiddly wires  disconnect breather  disconnect and take off diff oil cooler (did this last week) remove ABS sensor, disconnect earth strap
Remove subframe :)
nOOb mod, didnt quite split as planned :wack:
Anyway - all keep your eyes peeled.
RE: SUMP, precaution due to running slicks, and as Apex Test Bed, its a Apex Wide Wing Sump, hope Bren didnt want it a secret :wack:
:D inside information
I've got loads of flexible two inch plastic pipe (electric conduit from the recent street light upgrade around mine), that I can fetch to Cadwell if you lot want some. I'm going to put some on mine  I've already used it for my cold air feeds and its spot on

Might have to put up with axle tramp :wack: I dont need to take it off to fit my inserts though, I think
If you're talking about bushes, either solid ones or the powerflex type, you need to burn and hack out the old ones - not something you can do with the subframe on the car.
If its pineapples thats easy enough :)
Theyre Powerflex inserts that we had to hack about to get to fit but they work :)
How to will it take me to fit them Bren?
It can be done on the car right?
They would have been on the S14 last time you were at Cadwell so deserve a return trip.
Not long and no, yes, they can be fitted in situ. :)

Is 2" the internal diameter?
I need something before the day, Off to B&Q for me :D
I couldnt find any suitable at B&Q warehouse, all the ducting was the wrong size, actually so the stuff KevC has, thats where I got the guttering though, perfect fit to the S14a side intakes on the bumper.

I presume you meant to quote my brake duct thingy.
I'll have 8 foot of that piping please  3 foot per side + 2 foot cold air feed for intake :D
I'll fetch it with me

:( My new IC won't be ready in time, so i'll be stuck with the dire standard Coupe IC, limiting me really to no more than .8 or .9 bar safely. Oh well. I can't even hope it's wet as i have semi slicks on, so will end up taking the Clio in that eventuality.
Dave, sort that huge white blank bit in your sig ;) cheers
Right, we can now get 10-day weather, not looking good :( might have to order some new tyres as the slicks are staying at home at this rate

Kev if you're stuck two of my track wheels are wearing AVS Sports with lots of tread. if it's very wet i'll probably be running on the F1s anyway :)
Rubber... rubber WITH tread! Hummmmm.
why is it just my posts I fecked up :wack:
Our S13s down with Gary having a new plenum, larger throttle body, ARP head stud and nuts, nitrous, a remap (with and without nitrous) and full race alignment.
Its going to be set up for dry and slicks.
If it rains then Im going to have real problems. Unless it REALLY rains in which case Ill be able to use my race wets :D
I was looking at race wets, only £52+vat each As I have plenty of wheels I though of investing in some for next year.
A week to go, just off to pick up some more slicks, forecast is still for it to piss it down

Our event at Cadwell Park on Sunday 6th November is now full. We are offering all attendees (both confirmed and reserve) the opportunity to transfer to either Donington Park on the 5th or Rockingham on the 13th November for no additional charge (usually £165).
I hope nobody is thinking of dropping out, however tempting Donnington sounds ;)

i'm sorted for Cadwell
just spotted this on the Bookatrack homepage
Bookatrack Expand Fleet with Chinook
Bookatrack have once again shown a clean pair of heels to their rivals by adding a chinook to their fleet. The twin-rotor aircraft - more commonly seen in CNN footage - will be used to transport cars quickly to and from venues in the cargo hold.
Furthermore, track stoppages will now be more quickly resolved by using a harness and lifting the offending car out of the way.
For added spectacle, track punters can also choose to specify a "hot drop" option when booking their trackday. For a fee, trackcars can be dropped from the moving helicopter onto the pit straight.
For 2006 an Apache gunship helicopter is being considered as a modern alternative to finally replace the traditional jerry can and matches system currently in place.
:wack:
The only reason I'm not going to Cadwell is that its chuffing miles away for me :(
Awww wont be as much fun with out all the 200 lot there :p

No garage  with this large of a group we should be able to watch each others stuff int he car park. Me and SteA tend to lock/chain our spare wheels in a pile, with the chains also locked together (means we can each get at our wheels witrhout the other person but they are locked together).
Just go to B&Q spend £20 on thick-linked chain and your laughing.
Tend just to leave food and tools in a pile or in a spectators car.

I sent a list of all the guys who have booked through FCCUK and SXOC to Jonny at BookaTrack, and have had the following reply -
Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
David,
Thanks for the list. The deal was to include a free session of instruction so this would be a 20 min session for the main drivers only. Unforunately our instructors won't do any less than 20 min sessions (especially at Cadwell - a very technical circuit!).
If some of the 2nd drivers are also going to want instruction let me know as we'll need to get a 3rd ARDS instructor there on the day.
Kind regards & thanks again for the bookings,
Jonny Leroux

So, a shame we can't split the instructor time, but i'm happy we got 20 minutes though.
I will give mine to my Dad probably!
Hi Fishy Dave,
top man for getting the free instuction sorted  Are you going to make a schedule out for the times of instruction for everyone. If not it will end up in organized chaos if it's left to being sorted on the day.
Thats excellent Dave, Top man  Not that i need 20 mins free instrction of course :p .
more like a full day :o
Who gets free instruction? We cant all be up for it surely?
Yes Bren, all main drivers, that was the excellent deal Dave got us :D worth £20/person :D It been worth it for BAT to, as it was so full in winter ;)

What tyre ware rates do people get in the wet? Does it depend alot on how wet it is? Dont really want to do too much damage to my rear eagle F1's, but wouldnt want to put my remaining track tyres on in the wet.
Will have to suck it and see I guess.

Re. tyre wear, I did a full day at Cadwell last month in the dry, and can't have lost much more than 2mm of tread, even on the front left which took the most punishment. It may be different for you guys in your drift wagons though :p

its ~1.5 hours from Ferrybridge, M18, M180 and turn right at the end for 40mins of A roads.
What time do you think you'll be at the turn off for the A roads ?? Me and Steve EMS will be coming and will follow you guys down as we'll be coming from Grimsby/Hull :)
Unsure Stumitch, to be honest I dont mind phoning when I'm on the M180 but drivers have to be there for 8-15 ish, but dont really want to be stopping & waiting for convoyers along the route, it all adds to the time and its an early enough setoff as it is, I need every 10mins.
I'd turn up after 9 if I was you anyway.
In the wet your tyres wont wear, in the dry it depends how hard you push, the more you push the more wear you'll get.

Just found out the clutch slave cylinder has gone on the Coupe, so will be coming in the 172 after all :annoyed:
For those of you coming to the circuit from the south there is a Shell garage selling Optimax in Horncastle btw. :)

Where you staying Bob?
in the Premier Travelinn. can't remember the address off the top of my head.
weather forecast is light rain all day tomorrow :(
that might equate to very greasy track conditions if there's not much standing water. take care folks :) it'll certainly be interesting
Its been raining a lot recently so the track should at least be nice and clean :)
Aye, raining now too. Hate working on the car when soggy. :( How I wish I had a garage... and cant even get on my drive as there is a panda in bits, washing machine, dutton and rover v8 sitting on it!
Its dry here at the moment, we were going to wash and vac the Jag but its not looking good if its raining where you are :(
