Well I went to Stratford this weekend to help a mate out and catch up with a few old friends.

It just so happens that there was a RWYB day on in shakespear raceway, so me and Phill popped down for a go on the strip.

The TVR managed a 13.8 from what I can remember and that was on his second and last run.

I have never run a RWD car on the strip before so was a bit apprehensive to begin with.

Any way here is what I managed to do before it got silly hot and was not worth doing any more runs.

Air temp: 30
Best Time: 14.05 (4th run)
Terminal Speed: 102 MPH

Car was on standard clutch that now need replacing and the head gasket is damaged after an incident last week.

Run 1 - (launch on TC set to wet) 14.17 @ 102MPH

Run 2 - (launch off TC set to dry) 14.25 @ 101MPH

Run 3 - (launch on TC set to dry) 14.24 @ 88MPH (Missed 4th Gear completely. coasted over the line)

Run 4 - (launch on TC set to dry) 14.05 @ 102MPH (clutch slipping slightly happy with the run though boost dipped in 3rd gear then sorted it's self out)

The fourth run was done in silly air temps and I decided not to bother with any more and the clutch was not liking it at this point either.

Now looking at my slips here I have noticed the 3rd run had the potential to be a stoner if only I had not got to exited and buggered the 4th gear change up so badly I just gave up lol

The two figures I'm looking at are the mid speeds.

Run 3 - 80.1 MPH

Run 4 - 79.7MPH

The times are also quicker on the third run up until I missed 4th so I'm happy with the overall result of the day to be fair.

All I need to do now is get the metal head gasket fitted and install an up rated clutch and some better tyres on the rear.

I need a bit more time setting up the TC and Launch though with the new clutch and then we are cooking on gas.

After all that the car is well capable of putting in the minimum of a high 13 second quarter I would have thought.

It took a lot of getting used to on the strip though, so once I get a few more runs under my belt my errors will also be removed.

EDIT:

Just noticed the terminal speed of the 3 rd run compared to the 4th ! and the time of both runs !

Right naffed about the missed gear change now lol

Jez mate she is using a bit of water due to presurising !

In 400 miles she has used about a litre of water (it's pushing it into the overflow tank that is overflowing)

Im asuming that there is some dammage there due to this ?

Temps are all where they would usualy be though

Butuz : She goes well lol well happy with the result's

Easily get into 13s if you keep it in 3rd.

Yup the HG is definately shagged lol

Phill has a metal one so im going to get that one put on it asap :)

60ft times were

Run 1 - 2.5 seconds launching at 3300 (soft cut revs)
Run 2 - 2.5 seconds launching at 3500 (LC OFF)
Run 3 - 2.3 seconds launching at 3500 (hard cut revs) hand brake issue lol
Run 4 - 2.2 seconds launching at 3500 (hard cut revs)

Just thinking now what sort of money am I looking at for the replacement of the head gasket ?

Good times nic although I thought you would have broken the 13's with Launch Control etc etc.....I ran 14.2 with WMIC no Launch control and 34 dec c at the pod last year.....Hoping to break 13's with my FMIC on now!!
Hope you get the car sorted soon....my clutch cant have long now!!

i'd have thought with launch control you'd be best off launching at silly high rpm's? drop the clutch at 6k or something like that.

you can launch fine without launch control if you go at 3,500rpm (hence why you matched its 60ft time with TC off).

i'd have expected better than a 2.2 0-60ft with launch control. then again, i don't know how it works, it might be very crude.

You got it Mart :)

Once im on an uprated clutch the LC will come into it's own :)

Oh and all the runs were done with a ****ed Head gasket so im sure that has affected the times lol

This was a test for the car realy and for me to get used to any querks it has, the reason for me changing the LC for each run was to see what difference it made on the launch.

0.3 of a second difference with the LC is impressive at 3500 RPM or atlest I think it is not fogetting the clutch was also slipping at this point in the test !!
