View Full Version : BMW 540i b@stard!!!
Sitting at some lights on my way into work this morning, glance in my RVM and see this BMW heading towards me, bloke on the phone, oblivious to the fact that I was stationary. By the time he realises, it's too late and non of his BMW electrickery can stop an accident. So up my rear end he goes (;) ) at about 20 mph.
I get out, so does he and he starts swearing at me, calling me a w@nker etc.etc. At this point I get my 7 cell Maglite out of the car and walk towards him menacingly. This calms him down somewhat and we inspect the damage. Much to my surprise and delight, not a scratch on my Volvo, but both his headlights, grill are fooked, his bumper's cracked in 3 places and his bonnets creased. :D :D :D :D :D
Serves you right you arrogant pr!ck, and I have witnesses as to my complete innocence.
phew! thought for a minute it was another 200sx off the roads!
Good job with the maglite waving ;)
I bought the maglite in veiw of some of the road rage things it's read about. Thought about a baseball bat but obviously that would be regarded as a weapon. A 7 cell maglite is just a torch though, even though it has a very solid metal casing and weighs a ton. Bloody powerful beam too :D
The effing arrogance of the bloke - he hits you, and calls you a w**nker, I guess you must have been in his way or on his bit of road or something
Result though, at least the 200 wasnt involved, the Volvo sustained no damage, and Mr BMW is gonna have a hefty bill - especially if he has those (admittedly) rather cool Halo lights :D :D
To add insult to injury, could you not have got a screwdriver and got the BMW badge off the front of the car - a sort of scalp type medal ;) :D :D
You need one of these!:D

If those are legal in this country I'm defo up for one:D
What a cool name too:D :D
Sorry to hear of you little incident, JB. As long as your ok, that's the main thing.
Did Plod get involved? After all, it wasn't a minor crime like mugging or burglary......
'Cos Plod should (as long as it's not too much effort) be able to prove he was on the phone at the time of the accident and prosecute. Or at least pretend they're interested (which they probably won't be because there's no money in it for them).
At least it wasn't the 200.:)
I've found it best to leave the bacon out of it if at all possible, so they were'nt involved. I exchanged details with Mr BMW@nker and popped into my local nick to report the incident, just to cover my own back.
I've got the names and addresses of 6 people who saw him drive up the back of me so I should be OK. There's also CCTV on those lights so in the event of a problem that could help.
Actually, I'm glad I saw him coming cos I was able to brace myself for the impact (putting head firmly agaist head restraint) and have avoided stiff neck syndrome.
Mind you, 540's don't half motor!;)
The 540i must weigh a ton and a half at least. But compared to my 940 Estate which weighs 16.3 tons (17.3 with driver) it didn't stand a chance.
Seriously though, I'm well impressed at how the Volvo stood up to the shunt.
That's what Volvos are built for!
And Saabs.
DOnt think saabs are some how nowadays, most of them run on Cavaleir/Vectra Floor pans ;)
I tend to give way to anyone who looks harder than me!;)

Good to hear that no one was injured (apart from the ego of the Bimmer T0sser).
I'd certainly recommend you do get your car checked out though.
Apparently some cars may appear to have sustained no damage and the bumpers absorb the impact. When you check underneath you can end up with creased floorpans.
So go get it looked over at a reputable garage.
Could be a whole lot more expensive that it first seems.
Just back from taking the car to my local friendly accident repair place who after giving it a check say it's fine, so no harm done.

Worth persuing if just to get some free repairs on knackered / rusty items.
F*ck 'em, that's what I say. ;)
Are you sure your head was braced properly against the headrest? Maybe you are still in shock or denial of the terrible trauma you have been subjected to. Work pay may be affected by the sudden need to take time off to recover from the shock.
Compensation may help pay this.....oh and a bloody great big new turbo too!!:p
Actually, remeber a watchdog programme or similar, where they had a guy that regulary slammed on his brakes in front of people at low speed then made huge claims for compensation?? He got caught:)
Brand new Omega hit a mates T5 Volvo estate a while back. Omega lost lights, grill, bumper cracked.
Slight hardly visible scratch in paint on Volvo though! Got it resprayed under taxi's insurance anyway!

When you work for yourself, taking unnecessary time off usually helps you go out of business. I'm bloody glad I don't have to.

And compensation claims, only affect us by increases in premiums.
BTW, for maximum damage to the BM, I hope you had one of these.

her: "hmmm comfy, but where are the seatbelts?"
him: "don't worry, you don't need seatbelts... you'll be secure should I have an accident"

Exactly - false compo claims wind me up.
As for the tow-bar, I sometime consider refitting mine for that reason :D
But then I realise that not much is ever that close behind me, so it's not an issue :D:D:D
