View Full Version : The "I've broken my car for JAE" thread
Who's left it till the last minute to modify or repair something, and busted the car properly in the process ?
Someone other than Kev this time, please :)
Does selling up count? :)

Doh  What's happened to it?
Mine should be there, I should (I'd better) get the engine part back tomorrow for rebuilding, drop it back in and pray to the god of big ends that it runs. Then get it run in and MOTd before Monday as I move back to southampton then :wack:
You getting a lift with Eddie ?
he's supposedly getting a lift with me :wack: Could be both of us getting a lift with my mate in a Citroen Saxo if things go pearshaped
Im hoping my plans dont stop the car being there :wack:

What plans are those?
Hang on !
This is an "I've broken my car" thread, not an "I'm planning to break my car" thread.
This is supposed to be a short thread
What plans are those?
Mainly bushes that Im worried about
Possibly S13 rear brakes / handbrake
Gauges
Oil cooler
And maybe a rad

The jobs I have are:-
Wire up EGT gauge, plumb in air/fuel, oil pressure and oil temperature gauge, fit larger sump, spray alloys and fit them. Also maybe change piston rings

Doh  What's happened to it?
it go bang :wack:
a plug fell to peices at high rpm and fcuked a piston and valve and the head :(
I've noticed JAE is over a 'compatible' date for my holidays plans :D Might stop by and say hi to all :)
well, next week i am fitting a fuel pump and stage 1 chip so fingers crossed it will go well otherwise i could be added to the list of "i've knackered my car just before JAE"
Waiting on having the front end rebuilt and full kit fitting before, time running low and slow! It will happen and will be unvieled at JAE, oooh yes.

I've been saying for ages that mine will be there. just need to build an engine and do the re-spray we decided on a couple of weeks ago :wack:
Doesnt look like I'm gonna get my stage3 done in time :(
Mine's having Whiteline ARBs and a full 4 wheel camber/toe setup tomorrow.
Fortunately I'm not doing it so should be OK :smash:
won't be there either
was gonna get to show my car the first time this year but instead engine is fubbard :(

maybe all us people with fecked cars that didnt make it to JAE should all get together while we are there and get hammered and cry :D lol
I need to attack the dump pipe this weekend as its the last chance before JAE. :smash:
Im scared!! :wack:
Ive got spacers to fit, but zero time to do it in :(
Maybe its a blessing in disguse (sp) :wack:
sounds good we could all have our rattly engines in the backround
or even mini competions like who can push their sx the fastest :wack:
I'm fitting new suspension, rustproofing car and sorting brakes out.... wish me luck :p

lol :D good thinking, i might bring my damaged sr20 head and valve with me to show off instead of my car :wack: :D
Does fecked turbo gaskets count as Broken :(
Oh arse mate... not again? :(
I can give you hand sorting it if you want at JAE ;)
At this rate, the shiny cars will be wedged in the stand corners, and the middle will be a huge workshop
TBH, I think that's not a bad idea anyway.
Bagsy I don't have to dig the pit though.
Hmm, appears I've fried a set of front pads in about 2k miles :wack: Not enough to stop me (excuseth the pun) from making it though
atm si's car failed it's mot due to having just a hydralic handbrake.. aparently despite us paying more for a locking one we still need to have a stadard e brake for the mot, so now we've got to refit the stadard one as well as change the callipers because the calllipers si's got atm won't fit with the e brake.

I hadnt noticed them going as the Decat has been blowing, never got round to having it welded :annoyed:
Anyways, got SteA's old/Spare Decat on the borrow  Cheers Ste :notworthy and fitted that, couldnt see any damage on the gaskets so just tightened the 2 top bolts, they seemed the only 2 to be loose (and one of the 3 elbow-downpipe bolts).
I'll just keep tightening them every week till I can be arsed to do the job properly.
Did think about doing them at JAE, that might mean somebody who hasnt seen it done will then know what the jobs like. But dont think I can be arsed.
I'm getting seriously worried about my car making it :(
Found out the other weekend that I'd been sent the wrong set of cams, which means that it's got to be stripped back and the original cams & followers put in this weekend... it'll only have had a few days running in before I pick it up for JAE, and if anything goes wrong I'll be going in the Escort instead
Fingers x-ed for everyone else who's looking dodgy
mines well and truly NOT going to make it :( being engineless n all :smash:

Jeez. The only post on the board for seven minutes, and that's the best you can come up with.

Give him time... he's only just got home from the pub :D
Aah, there you are.
It would have been off topic to ask if the S13 is ready for Friday on the Buttershaw thread, but seems OK here. Etiquette, you see.
But, waving a breaker bar about suggests it might have a few too many niggles to sort first.
Note - this thread is intended for people who expected their cars to be ready, but have befallen a hardship of some kind.

Nah, the breaker bar was being waved at the Zed this time. Still haven't decided what wheels to put on it yet though. S14, R32GTR or just polish the original Z31 wheels??? I'd better make my mind up or i'll be asking for a lift to JAE
Lifts are potentially available to people with one Nissan who have bad luck.
Those people with several Nissans, all taken to pieces, can't qualify. Sorry.
One of them is going to need a shell, engine and a wheel decision before Friday

Fingers crossed mine will be ready for JAE... the engine is build and ready to drop back in, I'm just waiting for a couple of parts and it'll be back in on Monday or Tuesday. Then I'll be praying it doesn't sound like a bag of spanners when I start it up...
why  didnt citroen knock a few cars out that had hydraulic handbrakes a few years back ? not for road use anyway

I'm still waiting for my wheels to arrive.....................sind i ordered them end of april :annoyed: :annoyed:
got a phene call friday last week, they should be in, and he would send them to holland........9days further....no wheels :censored:
hope they will be in before next thursday so i can put some tyres on them nd have them fitted for the weekend.....otherwise i've to borrow some wheels from nismo Joey.......
well, ive broken myself this morning. went over on my right knee, popped my kneecap out and sprained my collateral ligaments. ouch :(
still on the plus side it won't stop me going to JAE, and i can take the rest of my nights off on the sick - can't run to a cardiac arrest with a fcukered knee.
bloody painful though :(
Nasty :(
Remember pain killers and Alcohol dont mix though ;)
and at least you'll get a decent kip before the weekend instead of being on nights.

Well ... here we are .. a few days before JAE & my car is out of action.
Saturday just gone, myself & kuddy (cheers mate  ) took the box out of my car & tried to sort the clutch issues I've got. This included fitting a new Fidanze flywheel and cusco clutch plate. This solved the origonal problem but now my clutch would slip at anything above 2000 rpm. I was getting mad now so I left it & figured it was a job best left for sunday.
Sunday came & I took thew gearbox off a second time .... had a good fiddle round with some parts & put the origonal Exeddy organic plate back in. All seemed well as I put the car back together ....... that was until I tried to select 1st with the car running ....... origonal problem has come back :(
So now I've got to take thursday off to do it all again for a third time in 6 days  just to fit an new bloody clutch cover :annoyed:
Rant over
Some fcuking, cnuting, b*stard, arse-sucking, shit for brains mother fcuker has put a scrape in the bumper of my fcuking car, right through the paint and even gouged the plastic of the bumper. Cnuts. :annoyed:   :furious:
Even my special JAE preparations haven't managed to cover it all
Aitch is not a happy bunny :indiff:

My wheel bearing still hasnt shown up, so the landie's off the road atm pardon the pun. So i'll be coming down to JAE in an FTO with no head unit and a noisy release bearing
