View Full Version : wat ecu?
anyone running an aftermarket ecu on their car? And if so what one is it?
im not running after market ecu but more a stage 3 h-dev chip which seems to be the busniness ...why lad what u thinking off?
i was looking at jez's chips myself but it seems to be that u need a pre defined list of mods. Nismo injectors, fmic, walbro, gt28rs etc etc and was thinking of a stand alone ecu like a link or motek or even a power fc so i can mod it the way i want and map it to suit.

yea i think ur right about the pre-defined list of mods. however, its probably pre-defined for a reason- i.e what mods you should do in order to get it to that stage
depends what sorta power figure ur looking for i suppose. if ur looking to mod it over time, to quite a high figure, the power fc is prob best to save u buying all 3 chips one after the other as you go thru the stages
If you're going for more than 320 ish bhp then go for a stand alone system like a Power FC.
My chips are designed for a pre-determind set of modifications - however upgrades from one stage to the next will cost less than a PFC remap and will only take a few mins to do :)
If you've got any questions about my chips, please email, pm or post in my traders section :)

its for the S14, they are 2 different ECU's unfortnately
afaik its only a matter of swapping 5 wires about so nothing major if i was thinkin of it. Theres so many options out there i dont know what i want to do to be honest. All i know is i want at least 300 ish bhp.

zero wire swapping to be done mate, its a straight removal of the factory ecu and total replacement. maybe your thinking of the other apexi unit thats like a piggieback jobbie?? just lets you modify timing and fuel etc??
total replacement ecu that can be tweeked as much or as little as you like and gives out all the readings from your engine in realtime, handy to keep and eye on the injector duty cycle etc
The S14 and S14a ECUs have different connectors, so I guess there must be different PFC ECUs to cope with both types of loom connector, unless they supply an adapter of some sort.
i think a stage 2 chip is looking more likely at the mo. Just bought some wheels so my tuning budget has decreased and i have all the parts needed for stage 2 chip apart from the 550's. 289bhp :D
