Has anybody played GTA3 on the PC yet. Just noticed it has been getting excellent reviews, an has been updated over the PS2 version.

With the patch applied, it works well and looks good at 1600x1200

Just downloaded it of Kazaa, its good, but a bugger to control compared to the PS2 version.

RE bad 3D performance - what spec is your PC (cpu/ram/graphics card)??

i've been trying to download this off kazaa! but keep geting people miss naming files, did you download it off kazaa? how big was the file size? that would help me find it........thanks..........rob

Had a look on the Rockstar website, no sign of a patch. It's a legit copy too :eek:

My PC bloody well *should* be able to run it at high res without *any* slowdown. Spec is:

Athlon XP 2100+
Abit KX7-333R
512MB PC2700 DDR Ram
2x IBM Deskstar 60GB drives in RAID-0
Abit Siluro GF4 4600 Ti
SB Audigy Platinum

At 1280x1024x32 I seem to get slowdown annoyingly often, especially when it's raining (in the game). This is on a PC which scores over 10k on 3DMark 2001 SE, and suffers no performance problems on any other game. I still get it occasionally at 1152x864x32.

Just winds me up that GTA3 is so bad - I reckon it loads a smegging PS2 emulator first...

It's a pretty poor conversion as things go.

The geforce 3 in the duron here runs it well, the P4 with the ATi card dies horribly, drops to maybe 2-3 fps sometimes.

The patch should be available? try somewhere like www.avault.com or gamespot.com - it fixes some problems it had, one of them was the save/loading game problem.

Dunno about you but the gun cursor is worthless, it's completely inaccurate as the bullets go anywhere but where the cursor is pointing.

The exact file name I've got is:

GTA III - [_RiP_] - YOU BETTER SHARE!.exe

and its 133,477 bytes big

An ISO image is a single file which is an 'image' of a CD. It's the entire contents of a CD in a file so you can burn it onto CD easily
