Can't see that you'll have too much of a problem.

Even a written warning seems a bit strong here.

Unless your surfing has stopped you working (they'll have to prove a drop in productivity here), or you've been surfing porn, or it's specifically written in your contract that you must never use the internet at work for non business purposes they can't do much.

If it was me I'd have a quiet word with you and leave it at that. Sacking for such an offence would leave your employer wide open to action from ITs etc.

Strongly worded written warning, and the threat of instant dismissal if I touch it again, Heh, Whoops!..

I've had 'numerous' (allegedly.. ) warnings..

It doesn't stop my work, I get it all done, today I actually got ahead of my so much, I was only stopped by the bank statements I needed not having been sent from the bank yet :D

Problem is, the logs uh.. log, every minute or something... So the same pages show.. lots of times.

I'll hold my hands up and say it's a fair cop, I shouldn't really be gawping at cars during working hours, but hell, I get my work done, to the extent where I'm sometimes left doing sod all for short periods of time.

/shrugs.

Doesn't bother me, just makes me dislike the new boss even more really. It's speeded up my desire to leave somewhat, I'm just going to complete everything I possibly can, fulfil my personal obligations to the members of staff I like (sorting out computers for their homes, etc.) Then once everything is bang up to date.. I'm off..

I am have the same thing D, I am a IT manager for a posh hotel, 50% of my job is being here just in case something goes wrong, my boss knows I look at car web sites, but I know he abuses the internet as well, so he cant really have a go.

Plus my boss is a tit too, but he has his moments, he like a women, he in a good mood one minute, the next minute he's like a bird on full rag week!

My last boss was sound he were good mates, so it made life so much better, but the money was ****e! so he lost a NT/Exchange/Tea Boy guru!
