Has anyone got any links etc of where I can buy drag radials or slicks from???

yep that looks like what im after - something to drive to and from an event and use :)

Would using smaller wheels than my 18s, say 16s give me a better 1/4 mile time too?

My initial plan is to buy a cheap set of stock 16" rims for the supra, and shod the rears in drag radials.....

Do drag radials put your transmission etc under immense stress then?

Smaller wheel + bigger sidewall for launching. As you launch it the tyres sort of twist up and ping you off the line, rather than spinning/bouncing. If you watch a proper drag car launching you can see the tyres twist.

If you're getting a set just for using on the drag strip, go for 15"-16"s. Might make it handle a bit funny round corners but will be better off the line.

Out of interest how do you launch it?

so would i be best off buying a set of 16" rims with road tyres for dragging then?Im cautious of using crap/worn rubber though as i got a 'bit' sidewards at the pod last time i ran with el cheapo rubber that came with the car :)

As for the launching technique, left foot on the break, wait for the light to go green, and floor it :)

you need very wide and soft side wall tyres...fine in a straight line but very bouncy and scary around bends

he you go. give these guys a try. we get our tyres for our formula student single seater race car we build at uni. and they can cut a tread into the tyre for u which, if i remember correctly, make them road legal. When ever i have phoned them up for advice on tyre compounds and tyre pressures ect.. they are very friendly and very helpfull. not too sure on prices as A. uni pays for them lol and B. all uni's get a massive discount as they are a main sponser of the competition we compet in. hope it helps.

oh yea maybe try www.hoosiertyre.co.uk or it might be .com

2/3 of teams in the competition use avon tyres and the other 1/3 of teams use hoosier. and the team from toronto last year and the year before that used them and came 1st overall 2years ago and 2nd last year. so cant be that bad.

What size slicks was bigtone running then? I'm thinking about BFG 225-R15 for about 270rwhp - is that OK?
