View Full Version : Microsoft Outlook Techie Question
How the f**k do you import a Microsoft Outlook 2000 Archive Data File into Outlook on another PC?
I've had to rebuild a system for my boss and I fear I've completely F****D up his email.
I've tried importing the archive file but it's not a .pst or PAB file.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!! I may well be looking for another job tomorrow!  :(
There's a pint in it for the solution!!! :)
hahahahaha you've screwed it royally!!! :D
what type of file is it then?
what about .csv?
What format is it?
I'm a proper MCP in Exchange 5.5 me! I can break it with the best of them!
OK, prob basic and you prob done this but:
File - Import and Export
then select "Import Internet Mail and Addresses" then select version of Outlook...
as I said, you prob tried it, but hey, there's beer involved... ;)
If I look at the properties for the file it's an Outlook Office Data File.
**** know what that is, all I know is I'm having extreme difficulties restoring his old emails!!! :(

ohh err missus
try all of the various importing options, that's the best i can come up with........ I think that's what we did here when getting my PC from 2k to XP
.pab <-- Personal Address Book
.pst <-- Personal folders, NEVER lose this one.
Could it be the .ost -file. That is the file in Outlook where for example laptops store mails so that they can be read offline.
And talking about e-mails screwed up my mate lost one of his bosses half years mails, and the hard drive had to be taken to Norman Ibas and the cost was around 2000£.
It turns out the file was a .pst type after all, so I've finally managed to restore the archived folders.
The problem is the archive didn't include all the folders, only the Sent Items folder, so I'm missing most of the emails.
I thought I'd backed up the outlook.pst file, looks like I didn't do it properly.
Oh well, where's that a P45? :(
