Hi Gary

Have you got any reconditioned gearboxes for sale? How much would it cost fitted? Otherwise, if I managed to get hold of a second hand one from somewhere, how much would it cost to recon it and then fit it? I guess you would then want my old box in exchange as part of the deal?

we normally offer a exchange rebuilt gearbox for £400 inc vat plus £130 fitting but we not have any useable bits to build any at the moment.

if you can get hold of a s/h gearbox i can rebuild it

What can be done to strengthen the gearbox? I would like to get hold of a second hand one and get it reconditioned by you, but maybe improved a bit. Mine isn't urgent at the moment, but I'm just getting an idea of how much to put into my gearbox fund. :)

I have one thats done about 60-70k. I had it checked, cleaned and rebuilt it of interest. Was fine in mine for 3 months. I changed it for a 20k replacement with my new engine.

I also have another one but reverse gear is knackered. But again, may be of interest...

Does getting the gears shot peened help much? Is it an expensive option? I am chatting to Justin about his gearbox with a working reverse at the moment.

to be honest for the money it costs to get it peened i would have said it would be best put towards a proper gearbox
