I drive into a petrol station and see a sign stating safety tips.
Do not smoke
Do not use your mobile phone
I have an electric pump whizzing away thats submerged in 20 litres of pertol !!!
Sounds weird to me..
I was in a petrol station in France once that got struck by lightning (well, the lightning conductor pole got struck by lightning, but the whole world went black and white and black and white etc...)
Petrol station didn't blow up though. I don't see why a mobile phone is more dangerous than a spark that looked 6ft wide!
I thought the reason they tell you to turm mobiles off was they can interfer with the pumps metering system, and give a false read of fuel pumped. But they say that it's an ignition risk to get people to turn them off, as they wouldn't if it said
"we may not know how much petrol you've had & undercharge you"
Well, the pump in the S13 (could be the same in the S14) is submerged in the fuel. And the contacts on the positve and the negative terminals are bare. I find that a bit weird, but hey it wor..Kaboom! Oh feck!

Tis odd isn't it.
Other night I was playing with my fuel hoses, putting some braided ones on, so I took the fuel pump fuse out ran the engine till it stalled, tried again, didn't fire, cool, opened the tank cap to release the tank pressure.
So I pulled the hose off the pipe thing at the side of the plenum and petrol sprayed out all over the nice hot engine for about 5 seconds. Flammable my arse. Scared the sh*t out of me though.
Why the fook was there still pressure there eh?
