its on honk kong BT ... my chinese mate downloaded it for us (bit torrent) its not a url, its the acctual BT program..... its the old movie like, chinese produced possibly, jap language chinese n english subs, but bloody brilliant, not the brand new un, the new one follows the story more from the beginning as far as im aware, this one has some guy (possibly the main character from cartoon) in an FC then and FD and other racers in a s13 silvia (woohoo) R32 GTR, FC n some others, oh, n races kiechi by the end... very very good.... hey u even get to see tsuchyia punch the character in the face :D haha

A little? The subtitles start off average, but about half way through the film they deteriorate badly. At one point the characters appear to be talking about the radiance of the engine, now if I hadn't seen the cartoon I'd never have realised they were talking about the power band having moved further up the rev range. :wack:

Still, pretty good film, even if they seem to have merged two characters (Itsuki and Kouichirou Iketani) and got Itsuki's Levin all wrong (in the film he buys a Trueno). Those are my major niggles I think. It is a very long series to try and compress into one feature film.

I wish I could speak cantonese or mandarin or whatever language its in, then maybe I'd write my own decent subtitles.

I got a copy, problem is its a Japanese movie with Japanese actor that speak in chinese dubbing (not sure if cantonese or Madarin). Unless the timing is way off :p

Anyone have subs?

Any good programs that can implement them?

I have the .SRT file (69K). I don't know what to do with it - I haven't tried it in my DivX compatible DVD player yet so I don't know if that's the correct format - I watched it in Windows but WMP10 didn't show any subs.

I found some info here (http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/subtitles.htm) but it's a bit beyond me, plus I don't have the software to convert if it isn't right. You want an e-mail?

EDIT - just stuck it on a disc and tried it on my DVD player, although it recognised there was a subtitle track it didn't display anything. I also tried an old version of DrDivX DivXplayer and that didn't work either. For all I know they're the chinese subs!

Info on the .SRT file, second one down:
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=srt&Submit3=Go%21

Hmmm, SubRip (http://zuggy.wz.cz/) seems handy.

Have you got broadband Alan?

Edit: Doh, must learn to follow links...

I played mine with XBox Media Centre. I just dropped the subs file into the same folder as the movie and XBMC did the rest :)

I'm torrenting it at work... I had a fantastic download of 50kb/s all day, smoked 400mb off in a few hours.

Not gonna be able to complete it till monday tho. Apparantly it's cantonese original, re-dubbed to mandarin (why? :wack: ) and then madly translated into english. (info from a mate who's already torrented it)

Does it follow the series or is it different??

Im halfway through stage 1 and dont wont to spoil it if I watch this.

Draven
31-07-2005, 12:12
it is a little like stage 1 through 3 compressed down to a film with loads cut out, and having seen all of them helps when the subs people seem to get bored about half way through

disco-tom
31-07-2005, 12:18
I fyou ask me, you should watch the anime stages 1-3 first. Then watch this if you still want to. The anime dumps all over this film. Mind, the live action angle is still cool. It's just that the whole film is waaaay too rushed to fit it all in 1hr 47m. :(

Algie
31-07-2005, 16:06
NO subs with mine for some reason? (can't run the .srt file with it which I'm guessing is the subs?)

I'm a bit disappointed with the way Bunta is portrayed in the film, more of an alcoholic lech than the aloof detached dad he was in Stage 1-4

Shame the fit lass was a prossie.... :)

Insomniac

Quakeproof = suspension I believe
Radiance of the engine = how high it revs or maybe peak power

I don't think the wee girl was a prossie, I think japs are into 'companions' (no sex involved). Get a hold of the Animated series, so much better!

Parker

I watched it last night. I agree with everything written so far which is a shame.

Bunta wasn't the character he should've been save a couple of occasions :(

There was too much for one film, it felt a bit rushed :(

The cars were pretty good though :) especially the FC and the 86 :D

Tenman
