G'day,
A couple of months ago they showed a drift comp on the weekly sunday sports show. The response and feed back to the show was so great from that 10min segment they have now started showing Drift comps for 30mins every second week. Now they have announced to make it a regular feature as it becomes a more well known "Ozzie motorsport".
I found this link from another site to a video of some drifting from the Ozzie Nationals... it's nothing compared to all the jap drift vids i've got but it's really helping the Nissan forums of australia take off! Especially the main silvia site http://www.nissansilvia.com/ .
Link to vid (http://www.conrod.com.au/forums/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=2;t=4261)
I'll have to do a search and see what vids you guyz have of yourselves drifting to see how it compares!
Craig.
Yeah, I was seriously suprised to see oz drifting looking a bit behind the UK's in recent Motor and Speed. :notworthy journalism in those mags btw.
Australia BEHIND the uk in drift? are you mental?
can you read ? that was just the impression I got from the mags - still waiting for the video to come down though (bloody slow ozzy international link I'd imagine)
67% :wack:  :smash:
I'm gonna go and clean my wheels.
You just have to check out the drifty parts available for distribution down under to know that its stronger than the current UK scene. From what I heard S body scum is HUUGE over there too. Neighbourhoods plastered with them everywhere :D + being that close to Japan does have benefits for importing sexual motors. So much bigger than the current UK scene in my opinion. But its definetly growing here aswell. Just have to look at the scene now compared with last year. Massive progress!

It's funny you should mention that being closer to japan thing...
It seems that there are more higher powered cars in this club than here (Aus) and most people i know end up buying parts from US rather than Japan!
Strange aye *put 1st smiley, that ATrull used above, here*
Since when is drifting more about power than Handling (LSD+Suspension work)
Go DriftWorks (www.driftworks.co.uk/forum/) 4 comparing drift cars here 2 down under :Plug:
Thanks for the link by the way Top stuff :notworthy
just watched the video - I think I'll rewatch it :D :wack:

never said it was! Just simply repling to someone elses comment on Japanese parts etc (aiming at power)... harmless statement not related to this topic!
Got a few copies of drift battle magazine from Oz. Looks a massive scene compared to over here. Should be an extra bonus if/when we move over there, as I won't have to give it up (Except for being too old)
SX Devil, is it regional or all over the country? Not sure which part we would end up in.
After seeing what house prices are like over there and the fact they are short of workers i'm seriously considering emagrating. :wack:

Yeh your all welcome! :D
It's all over the country but just not so big in W.A. yet (i.e. for proper comps) there are allways drift days and things where the silvia club of Australia will hire a track etc!
Cool, just need to get applications in then:D

Drifting is growing VERY fast in Oz.
I remember the first Adelaide JMS comps a couple years ago, screamer pipes and drifting were unheard of! Then all of a sudden it just exploded, esp in the last 3 years.
With oganisiations like Drift Aus, Initial drift and Fulllock, are to thank for holding drift practice and event days!
Each state in Oz is very competitive with each other, the eastcost being more prominent in Drift, with the South Aussies being labeled the "home of drift" thanks to Denzo's antics, and having Pt Gawler and Mallala tracks, QLD has Qld raceway , Vic has Calder and Morwell tracks.
Its growing and im sure you guys in the UK get the aussie mags: Drift battle, 2DMAX, Hot4's, Fast Fours , Sp33d, etc etc to see that drifting is getting large.
heres some oz sites:

Really? Must be a W.A thing!
The eastcost have nice outputs from its millions of Silvias.
And i dont know why people would source products from the U.S, when you can get your hands on ANY performance part for your Silvia from any of the Eastcost workshops.
Must be a West Aussie thing!! being all lonely over there ehehhe. (joking!!)

Hey dude.
Yeh it's a W.A. thing when it comes to drift and nice jap rides etc. Before i went to UK i got shit from every man and his dog for havin a jap car. Now, 2 years later, i'm back and half my mates are driving half decent jap machines!
As for the parts thing I'm aiming more at the CA stuff. I dont really have anything to do with SR shit. But then again i might be wrong. Every time i make a post on nissansilvia.com about needing this part and that part i get next to no, usualy no, replies! Yet i post here A UK SITE and they have more knowledge than i see from any OZ site. (I'm a Born brit and proud of it)!
