Hi Bren,
Long time no order
This is nice - I want one!
I could also do with some other bits but need a little advice first.
I would like to improve the handling and rear end grip of my S14a but I'm confused about the options - which is why I'd be greatful for your advice. The car is running about 325bhp and has, handling wise, Tein Flex with EDF, front and rear Cusco braces and 225 F1's on 17" R34 GTT wheels (245/225 bridgestones on 18" 350Z wheels for the summer). Apart from that, the rest of the suspension is bog std.
I have a set of Whiteline ARB's to fit (when I finally get around to it). Is there anything else I should/could do at the same time to sharpen things up? I'm thinking pineapples and/or polyflex bushes but really don't know. What do you reckon?
I don't use the car for track days so it needs to remain feasible/bearable as a daily driver. TC is on the list but probably not until after I get my spare engine/box rebuilt.
It would be great to order any other handling related bits at the same time as this PFC holder. If you can let me know by return what you'd recommend we can sort it out on the usual card number and delivery address.
Thanks,
Roo
Have you got anything to sort the camber? If youve lowered the car then resetting the camber fornt and rear will help the handling no end.
Rear camber arms are £135. If youve lowered the car a lot then when you correct the camber youll get toe out. You need rear toe arms to correct this, they are £135 a pair.
Rear Whilteline pinapple rings help stop subframe movement, theyre £49 a set :)
You might also want to think about front tc arm bushes. Whiteline are £49 a set. If it was my car then Id fit the Whiteline castor adjustable bushes which are also £49 a set.
Thanks Bren,
I haven't done anything about camber. The car's lowered by about 30mm front and rear (not sure exactly as Gary did it when he fitted the Teins for me). Don't the Teins have camber adjustment via the pillowball top mounts? (or am I just further demonstrating my ignorance :D ).
Assuming they don't and that I would therefore benefit from the full set of parts you've listed for me, could you sort out the full package for me + the PFC holder? (might as well fit them all at once).
Let me know if you need any card or delivery address details.
Roo
Only front adjustment and unless you paid for an alignment process then Gary wont have corrected the front.
What do you want in the package? Theres a lot of bushes that can be changed, how far do you want to go? Or do you just want the arms? :)
Holder for me
Did you bill me for the 2 GReddy gages and the door vent pod?
Ok :) No youve not been billed yet

I was thinking everything you listed

I'm not sure if I want to do the bushes. Will this make the car "harsh" when used as a daily drive? or is it a good idea? (+how much would it add to the cost?)
Roo
It was my road car with a 30mm drop then Id fit:
Rear adjustable arms £135
Pinapples £49
Front castor adjustable tc arm bushes £49. I now recommedn adjustable castor ones because you just set them to maxmimum positive castor, dead easy. Ive just found that out :)
Maybe Nismo powersteering rack mounts as apparently the originals are pants. Theyre £55 a pair.
I wouldnt bother with the rest as long as the originals are in good condition :)

O.k. - sounds good to me. We'll go with that lot + the FCC holder
I've already done the power steering rack mounts - I didn't expect to notice much benefit to be honest but surprisingly, it did make quite a lot of difference.
Thanks alot for your help and advice. Let me know if you need any further card or address details to process the order. :)
We have your details so will sort the order tommorrow :)

^^ As above... I did order via your website rather than here though.

Thats because youve been charged carriage. The holders are £17.50. Not £17.50 delivered. We never quote delivered prices unless specifically asked because people often add to their order so theres no point.
Ill have to refund the carriage this time because you said youd take the holder at £17.50 delivered and I missed the "delivered" bit :annoyed: For future reference our prices are NEVER delivered prices for the reasons stated above.
Kirkster,
No problem.
Hi Bren,
Can you let me know when you're a mo' whether the order shipped last week? as I've not received anything as yet.
Did you ship to my work address? if so I'll go and hassle our goods-in people as they might have booked the stuff into stock
Very best regards,
Roo

Hi Bren... still not got the refund. Just checked and you charged £21.91 to my card so that means a £4.41 refund is due.
Cheers,
Brian.
The refund was done on the 5th. It talkes three working days to process.
digglett,
We are just seeing if we have one left :)

Any news Bren? ^^
Also, could you make a note to send me some of the longer bolts/locknuts for the APEX turbo elbow?
Im going to sort a batch of longer bolts and some sort of lock nuts for these elbows. If anyone wants some then just let me know and we will send them out foc.
I haven't fitted the elbow - will be doing so shortly - but would like to minimise the risk of them coming loose as I'm a lazy sod and don't want to have to do the job twice
The joint supplier only sent us toe arm joints, they didnt send any camber arm joints. We ordered them 5-6 weeks ago and was told that we would have them within a week :annoyed:
Ive got some other suppliers checking for alternatives now.
We have Cusco camber arms in stock but theyre £325 :(

People seems to like the holders ;)
Hi Bren,
I noticed the payment has gone through on my bank account - does that mean the bearings have come in and that I can expect to see a nice package waiting for me when I get home?

Any news
Hi Bren,
Can you let me know what the progress is with this order please?
Sorry, didnt mean to ignore the posts. Ann sorted some far more sensibly priced bearings and theyre due here today or tommorrow. Ann phoned the suppliers to chase yesterday and they had all the bearings with them (they had to get them shipped over from other branches to fulfill our order) and were getting them out yesterday or today :)
Hi Bren,
Any nooze on the bearings?
Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I need to give Gary a call to sort out fitting these bits + some other stuff so it would be handy to have an idea when they're expected.
Best regards,
Roo
oops, I forgot to mention - could you please chuck in the longer bolts for the APEX turbo elbow that I asked about some way back up the thread here? Also, if the camber arms or the other bits need rubber boots or covers could you chuck in whatever's required (assuming they don't come as part of the kit already, of course).
thanks Bren
Bren - would it speed things up if we switched to the Cusco arms?
Sorry, I meant to phone you yesterday. We will phone you today.
anyway, these little apex'i holder thingies. Can you send me one please :) (Switch card if you can).
We have run out, we have some more coming any day now though :) Ill put you down for one.

Hi Bren,
I hope you and Ann had a good holiday last week? Just a quick line to ask if there's been any progress on the troublesome bearings? Either that, or whether there's any sight of any Cusco's on the horizon?
Let me know as I want to be booking the car in with Gary ASAP - if I leave it any longer he'll have sold my spare gearbox to someone else, he's been holding on to it for me now since January
Hi Bren
Sorry to be a pain but is there any news for me yet on the bits?
Yeah theyre sorted and we are starting to send the arms out today :)
Excellent
I think the order has been charged to my card, sometime last month - can you check just to make sure I don't get billed twice?
Many thanks,
Roo
Yeah theyre sorted and we are starting to send the arms out today :)
Hi Bren
Any news? If possible, it would be good to know when my bits are expected to be dispatched.
Sorry to be a pain.
Roo
You should have had the arms a while ago. Evidently youve not had them. Ill find out why......

Hi Ann,
That's great news - many thanks. Just wanted to check that everyhting will be delivered together? Also I think I've already been billed (sometime back in May I think - can check if required) so please don't wack my card again - particularly as I've got to pay for a boiler to be fitted at home tomorrow
Very best regards,
Andrew
