In my opinion Yokomo are by far the best, I am sure most will agree

If you can put screws in and do nuts up you will be able to build one  :)
Heres mine  :)

You can use any touring car chassis - you just need the drift tyres (or make your own using PVC pipe). Tamiya kits are particularly easy to build, and they offer a good entry-level range.
Check out www.rcracechat.com for all the info you'll need on R/C cars and racing in the UK. There's even a For Sale section, which might be a good place to pick up a car that someone else has already built; also, buy a copy of Radio Race Car magazine for the classified ads and for a listing of local model shops.

I have argued in the past that this is not the case, there is more to it than just the tyres. However I was acused of not knowing what I was on about, so I'm not saying anything this time :wack: :D
Gonna be selling mine soon if your interested. I'll get pics and spec later.

OK its a Tamiya TA04-SS Chassis with full ball bearings.
Its running an uprated motor so I've been told but that was all done before I bought it.
I've got -
1x chassis
3 x shells [S2000, 350Z GT, Audi TT GT]
5 x full sets of wheels and one pair of wheels [22 in all]
4 x sets of tyres [one special drift set, two sets of normal slicks and one set of grippy tyres]
Charger [with in car adaptor]
Remote control.
My knowledge is limited so I'll let the pics do the talking!

Make me an offer, I'm only considering selling at this point, was going to hang on and get some more use out of it in the summer but if the right offer comes along I'll part with it.
Its not be used for more than 5 hours in total by me and the previous owner only used it briefly too.

Jesus, that name brings back some memories! I spent around ten years of my childhood racing the Dogfighter (I still love that name!) as well as various Associated RC10's. My last car was a Mugen MBX4 which sits in my living room now. Not sure if I could drive one now like I used to now though. Funny thing is one of my mates never really gave it up and on a good day he's still one of the quickest drivers in the country.
Masami Hirosaka is still driving, he was world champ when I was a kid!
I have argued in the past that this is not the case, there is more to it than just the tyres. However I was acused of not knowing what I was on about, so I'm not saying anything this time :wack: :DGo on, I'll bite... I thought that the Yoke Drift Cars were basically just de-specced versions, plus the plastic tyres, plus the nice shells (I think my Associated circuit car needs an S15 shell  - do they handle?)
But my R/C cars are all about laptimes, and only get sideways when a) it's really muddy or b) I've got it wrong :smash: so I may be talking bollards...
Masami and his Dad are still about, though Masami still works for Yokomo and does most of the design and development he says hes taken a back seat in the race scene. Doesnt stop him winning the Jap Nats when he enters and still makes the top 10 at the Worlds every now and again.
He is still the man.
His Dad is now a freelance designer and spanner man for hire. He helped Kyosho to a major title on road recently.
Takes you back dont it...........
Did you used to race, if so where abouts?
based in midlands, but raced all over uk, 1/12th, 1/10th offrd, 1/8th offrd from early eighties. Still have a lot to do with the industry, but play with real cars now
Same here  I mainly raced in the south east 1/10 offroad. I used to race a lot at eden park, beckenham with richmond rogers and kevin moore.
we used to sponsor Richmond, I can remember him starting as a little kid without the pony tail. I can recall Kevin when he was thin!
Did nats at Eden park and worlds end, saarfend etc.
We don't mention the pony tails any more! Richmond is also very handy with a plane and a helicoptor, bit depressing really!
yeah dont ya just hate show offs...........

I sold my TA04 for £160.. it was in a lot worse condition than that, and didn't have the same amount of spares.
Cheers - theres a good base to start the offers from.

TBH, although I'm not interested in buying, the TA-04 with equipment as old as that, even with spares would just about get £100 on ebay. Sorry, not trying to upset anyone, just my honest opinion.

Sorry to go off subject a little bit, but here's a pick of my small collection-
The Savage now has a .28 engine after landing it upside down and breaking the crankcase as a result!!
The missus drives my old Yokomo SD, while I drive Associated TC4, Corally SP12G3, Associated T4, Losi XXX, and the Savage when I get round to running in the .28!
Anyone in the Swindon area interested in looking into racing R/c, check out www.swindonmodelcarclub.co.uk we have a club car to rent for the day at only a fiver for a day's racing, see if you like before you spend all your hard earned on something you don't want.
Blew any chance of me selling it there - ta.
If its not gonna fetch near the £200 mark I'll be keeping it.
