Today has been ****e, Nathan and I both when to SE for the great 'stage 2 chip' just before we get there my electric fans pack up and I nearly boil the motor, so I bodge the temp switch and got the chips fitted. So far the day wasn't too bad, so we left SE and started on our way to Power Engineering.

As we get onto the M25 I can hear a load banging from the nearside of my car, I pulled up on the hard sholder and checked the tyres (it sounded like a flat tyre) all the tyres looked fine. As I pulled into Power Engineering the sound got very loud, so I borrowed there trolly jack and jacked up the rear of the car, to my horror I found that 3 wheel nuts where loose and one stud had snapped off, needless to say my power run was knocked on the head.

Now to Nathans problems, one of the Power Engineering lads strapped his car down and did a power run, he quickly stopped it and exclaimed '****1NG HELL' he said and I quote "Its pinking its tits off!" now SE said they test drove it, and they said it was fine, if SE are so good then how the hell didn't they hear the engine pink so much? And Nathan also found out that the big ends on his engine are shagged as well so matey at PE refused to do a full power run. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

I'm never going to SE again there customer service is cack (they even forgot to give us the old chips back, we had to ask to get them back)

isnt it supposed to be friday the 13th when all the bad things happen? as paul said I was told "you might want to turn the boost down cos thats realy fast now" followed by "but it's fueling ok though". still we drove down to power engineering slowley to mack sure. on the rollers and the guy jumps out shouting F**KING hell!!! one "LARGE" adjustment later and another spin on the rollers and he said it was still pinking a bit. Then he heard my big ends chatering away. so the result is that my big ends are on the way and its still pinking as the guy said it was to dangerouse to go over 5000rpm so that he could adjust it anymore. arse arse arse. good note though he said it has lots of potential as it felt realy powerfull on the rollers.
Another disapointment as well, paul and I walked bleedin miles from SE to the "sea front" mulden is pants, it has no sand no fairground and I couldnt find anywhere selling candyfloss, so lots of blisters for nowt.
And to cap it all of I came home to find no beer in the fridge. this has been one bad day!

Sorry to hear that guys. How much damage did the loose and snapped studs do ?

Bugger about the big end bearings, mine went not long ago. You didn't happen to see my car at SE did you ???? H reg S13, maroon/red, they are supposed to be doing my big end bearings aswell as getting the crank reground, I can never sem to get hold of anyone that knows how its going when I ring up, probably better off asking people who have been recently !! Its been there a while now as they are busy with all those 300's who got there before me...Looks like I'm gonna miss this Santa Pod trip aswell.

On the SE front I found Pete very knowledgable when I was there dropping my car off last time. I took it there for the work because of the 'good' reports I heard about them ?

Fortunatly the only damage is the snapped wheel stud and a increased sense of mortality after thinking about what would have happened if the wheel had come off at 80 mph on the M25!

The stud only cost £2.50 but £35 labour to change!

Yeh I did see it, it was on the lift at around 11:30. noticed it because there were loads of 300z's and it stuck out.
cant wait to get everything sorted out and see what this chip has done, after the timeing was done it felt alot better but I couldnt thrash it.

My car feels a bit better but I'm scared to tank it about because of the timing/mixture situation. And I will probably fit the stud myself, it can't be too hard http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/rolleyes.gif

OOOH recording of big end bearings sounds a good idea.

Might cheer me up, on the other hand it might confirm my suspicions. Either way is good good.
