View Full Version : Vauxhall Manta
Me mate is doing up an old Manta 1.8 as a project and is looking at possibly doing some mods to suspension/brakes/engine.
I was under the impression that its just the same as a mark II/III cavalier and therefor he could strip bits from one of them.
Any input on this?
If its true, then wat bits will fit straight on?
If not, then what bits will fit the manta? calibra?
Kev
I believe that the manta has most in common with the mk1 cavalier... the only cav that was rwd... dunno if the parts are interchangeable though... the cav mk3 and calibra share parts with each other but not with the manta...
Cheers for the info mate.
Anyone else?
Im sure i posted this earlier!

Thanks alot guys, that link is ideal.:)
My dad used to have a Manta 2.0 GTE & I can remember him having to get parts in from Germany for it  Would seem to suggest there are bits that aren't interchangeable

You are right Tracy. Although very similar to the original Cavalier i.e. body shell (with strengthening) and of course RWD many parts are not interchangeable. I had one as a company car back in the 80's.
I am the font if Manta wisdom here.
The 1800 Getrag 'box will accept any of the modern DOHC and V6 GM engines. The 1800 engine mounts will accept the DOHC.
The rear axle is a semi trailing live item, and is shared only with the Isuzu Piazza Turbo.
The Bodywork is near impossible to get hold of now.
A good conversion for the 1800 is to fit a 2.0 SRi 130 engine from a MK3 Cav SRi 8v.
I still have a set of lowered Pi springs in the garage if your mate is interested!!!!!
Ill ask him and let u know Nik, but ive a feeling he already has it lowered.
How much of a drop are they?
And how much u want for them and postage to glasgow?
