I hate them with a passion, and I'm bored as hell so tell me what you think of the Japanese Calibra
Nice Motor IMHO, nearly bought one but too expensive and not RWD.

Good engine, handling almost as good as a Teg, but.... They drive from the wrong wheels, now a 4x4 version of it would be a tempting prospect, turboed of course :D :)
Like the look of them and would have been tempted if it had been RWD.

I've always thought of them as a japanese Vauxhall Tigra. No real grunt, don't really handle (FWD=bleh!), look slightly sporty. Hairdressers car. Anyone with any sense would have bought an ITR.
I've always really liked 'em.I nearly bought one before the 200. One of my biker mates reckons that they havent got any grunt!
I quite like them, but Why are they FWD???
Couldnt Mitsubishi have made them more like an MR2 layout - that would have been much better.

my m8's just bought a mivec FTO from japan(import), any idea what spec/performance, think it has the quad can 2.0 v6 were as the british ones have only the twin cam!?!? apparently they use the other two cams at higher revs so are faster!;)
The FTO is supposed to be the finest FF Car around!

They really could have done with making it 4 wheel drive, and slappin a massive turbo on it, but I do think that it is 1 probably 1 of the moodiest looking car in it's class, certainly better than Audi TT/Nasty Vauxhall thing. IMO :)

Yes, but you are obviously a man of taste as you're going to get a 200 :)

Pretty sure Mitsubishi decided to sell FTOs for a couple of years more recently.
Can't say I like them myself - stylings OK 'til you get to the rear edge of hte door then it gets progressively worse.
But FWD? What were they thinking?

Yup, you could (still can?) buy one from your official Mitsi dealership.
Would rather have a GTO personally...don't know anything about them, just like the looks :)
The FTO's from dealers are Red zebra models so they are still classed as imports. Apparently Mitsu. did think about releasing them here (with fogs in the bumper and new plate surround) but decided the suspension would need to be redone for Brit roads and canned it. We must have weird roads or sum fin:confused:

Well I easily beat a GP recently, but I understand the MIVEC is seriously fast.
Manky interior though, and the styling really is a bit 90s, no way it's going to last.
Most importantly, completely overpriced. The S13 is miles cheaper and faster.
Lastly, can you do donuts in an FTO, I THINK NOT!
Nuff said really.
in the beginning , mitsi dealers told everyone with an import to feck off , then they realised how much business they were losing and how much better the jap spec cars were !
part 2 , mitsi uk told dealers to about turn and b helpful to import owners and sod it you may as well sell some imports
part 3 , fto s appear on dealer forecourts , parts are available !
part 4 , did you know that pajero is a spanish word for ****er:D :D
fto s were never available new on british forecourts , red zebra meens import (you can tell by the tacky rear foglight ) also brit spec cars have a 17 digit chassis number , japs are shorter
mivec = 200 bhp , but you got to rev em , tiptronic box is excellent but expensive when it goes wrong:eek:
anyone want an hks air filter for an fto?

But on the Banzai RR test they mostly struggled to make over 180 hp.
fair comment , but how many were running on optimax or avgas jap engines are set for 100 octane

Got a mate with one.
'94 Gpx Mivec. Tiptronic is a hoot :-)
Can out drag it and be about 2 lengths in front at 80mph :-)
But he's lowered it and stiffened it, and he throws it around corners faster than I care to, dunno if that's just me being old and cautious though hehe.....
