Just a quick question for people with modded 15's.

When I got the car it ran steady at around 0.6-0.7 bar. Ive now fitted a Decat/zorst and an induction kit. Im now seeing around 0.8 which from what Ive read other places on the board is normal after these mods, thing is when I hit 5k rpm in third (not sure if it happens in other gears as I couldnt find enough road. :) ) Im seeing around 1 bar . This seems too high to me, but was wondering what other peoples experience is with these sorts of mods.

It could be that the standard guage is woefully inaccurate I suppose.

Edit: Not quite as high as I thought the guage reads in kg/cm^2 so 1 will be around 14PSI. Still quite an increase though

not any help but i got to put my zorst on this week but only cat back will see what im getting then ? my gauge keeps dropping out over the last few days what i mean by dropping out its working fine then all of a sudden it goes into test mode and then hits -7 then sits there and thats it no performance issues but me gets the idea that the gauges arent very accurate any how.

Holset,

I also have a decatted exhaust, frontpipe, air filter and BOV and i easily hit 1 bar according to my AVC-R. Sometimes i even hit 1.09 bar but i(actually Diddn did :ghey: ) have tweaked the AVC-R to prevent me from going over 1 bar. 0.9 bar is easily acheivalbe though. 1 Bar is constant flooring of the happy pedal!

And i remember someone (think it was SteveC who also had an S15) who told me that this was quite normal.

Hope that helps! If you find any info otherwise, please post on the BB!

cheers,

alex

I increased my boost to 12psi before I did any mods to it.... left it alone and added:

Induction kit
Decats

and it rose to 14psi

Exhaust still waiting to go on and expect it to rise again so will have to turn it down.

Thanks for the replys guys. Think Im going to have to fit the SAFC2 Ive had in my garage for six months, as Im not convinced It'll be happy pulling these levels on Brit fuel when it warms up.

Sorry if this is a bit obvious to most of you, but is constant running @ 1bar a problem??

Bit of a rookie when it comes to this kinna thing.

Cheers

if you set your boost to 12psi, surely that's what it is set to? the other mods will help you get there quicker, but unless you alter the boost controller won't it still hold the same boost?

(not contradicting you, just trying to understand how these beasties work)

.... adding things like uprated WMIC, exhaust, filter, etc will let the engine breath and increases the flow of air into and out of the exhaust which in turn increases pressure in turbo hence higher boost figures....

I have had to turn mine down twice now

is this with a bren device, rather than with a boost controller?

Yes Bren device soon to go for an APEXI AVCR
