View Full Version : How much faster does your car go if.....
...you have the word 'Motorsport' plastered across your front windscreen?
It's just that every hot-hatch I saw over the weekend seemed to have it.
As I don't actually know what statement 'Motorsport' is making I assumed it must have a performance benefit? They all seemed to drive like they thought so.......
Agreed.....
Well in that case I'm not gonna mess about with any of those Corsas or Novas...as they must be really rapid!!
Hmmmmm err mmm yeeeees!

if you also add a PECO back box then even a skyline wont catch them
Why don't you put a Motorsport sticker on your Punto Ripper, then you can give us a first hand account :D
Don't forget the "Neon washer jet" mod. Gives you about 75bhp so I heard? A similar figure can be gained by fitting TSW tri-spokes!!!

You forgot the wearing of backwards baseball caps, and a whole host of stickers down the side of your car listing japanese motorsport brands (none of which are on any items under the bonnet)... guaranteed an extra 150bhp plus 9000rpm redline :D

You laugh, JB, I've seen a 1.2 Punto with a strip across the windscreen....... Still nailed him on a DC, though, JUST (but then, JUST is JUST enough;) ).
you lot are fogeting that with all these power mods you need a set of quality halfords corner splitters on the f/bumber for the downforce.:D :D

Either that or a bodykit with all the aerodynamics of a brick with sails, or what about a 1" exhaust pipe leading into 4 X 3" pipes at the back, a truely worth while mod:rolleyes: fake rear disk brake's whats the point?! fitting as many gawky, pastie looking mates into your car and trying to race anything that moves (have they no shame) even though they have the acceleration of a snail on dope. roof spoiler on a hatch back WTF!!! the list is endless.
Or you could fit those headlight covers to your hot hatch lookalike that give the impression of a quad headlight conversion, well to the owner at least ....
This must be one of the most stupid mods ever as i am sure these covers block out quite a large amount of your lights. Still, if you have all the above mentioned mods including motorsport sticker, peco backbox and baseball hat then you would probably be travelling faster than the light emitting from your headlights anyway :D :D
The motorsport sticker gives you more downforce, and it is doubled if you have a relavent car....I.E. a Ford!
Of course you cant forget Escort Cossie bonnet vents on your Vauxhall Corsa or a Gti-R vent on a punto. The engines in those things get really hot with the power they put out!:D !

Is anyone here willing to put their hand up and admit to being an ex Max Power reading tasteless boy racer?
I used to have a rusty white Fiesta 957cc Popular, with a noisy exhaust and a hugely powerful but very cheap (ie terrible sound quality) stereo system in it. Four twelve inch subs in the boot - worth about twenty quid each :D
Classy, huh?

I can honestly say that I was never a boy racer, not because I didn't want an Astra GTE or similar, but because I was a lazy college student and p*ssed all my money up against the wall, by the time I got a car I was over it :)
I was never a boy-racer either.
I enjoyed having real friends and a real social life.

I was a normal person until I played Gran Turismo... and then I got hooked on cars... but I didn't buy a warm hatch and pretend it was something great cos I knew it wouldn't be the same...
Thing is... irrespective of whether you have a 1.1 Saxo or a 300bhp 200sx... aren't we all still boy racers (apart from those who've actually driven their car on a race circuit...)
Nope.
The difference is boy-racers do 70mph down the local highstreet and round the sideroads.
People like us use A-roads and M/Ways and accept that if the traffic or weather conditions are inappropriate then you call it a day.
And we are insured, MOT'd and pay tax more often.

Funny that I used to have one of those in red. I managed to convince my girlfriend at the time that I'd nicked it and she wouldnt go near it. even when I told her the truth she always got jumpy when she saw a copper. and yes I did read max power and eerrrm errm I still occationaly buy it, only to see what the other side are up to mind :D
Most tastless mod I can be accused of was welding a scaffold pole up to a cherry bomb for my mates Mk1 escort. sounded real sweet until it fell off
Spent 2 years building a 150 DB stereo car, thats about as max at it got, was cover car on the Re-release of INCARS!
Well we got 149.5 DB in a soundoff with an 8 inch gash in one of the Rockford Power 15's
:D
and it wasnt a bloody fiesta van, you could see out of all the windows too! From the outside it looked normal!

I like to drive fast, but it's like Ripper says, these morons do it anywhere with no consideration for other road users or the weather conditions at the time
See one the other day nearly take the front off of three motors as he weaved between them, and as they had to brake nearly causing an accident to boot.
Trouble is these w4nkers actually think theyr'e cool, where in fact they should have their fecking licences revoked
End of rant :D

I've got the best story ever, swansea cruise down in llanelli hlafords ca park, absolutley horrific standard escort with all the mods- nice painted rear lights, colour coded bits on windscreen wippers, go faster stripes and sun visor strip, came into car park, and in one handbreake turn action, managed to wright off two cars including his own, one of them being a newish scooby, and then bloking the entrance to the cruise:confused:
well impressed! if that had been my car, he would have seen the light of another day!
eerrrrr... anyone noticed that there is a feature on that yellow S14a with the bodykit and huge rear wing in next months Max Mower.
so i heard.
from someone i dont really know.
Honest.:D
