View Full Version : Suspension arm progress
The arms are back from being blasted, checked, welded and powdercoated.
However Ive now ordered in a batch of very high quality bearings to replace the originals. The new items are very strong race orientated items and are ptfe lined. They will be stronger, quieter and will last much longer than the ones that came witht he arms. The batch of bearings is due in around 7 days.
I dont want to mess around with such critical components so am replacing allt he bearings to make sure we have no problems.
Theyre costing me a little fortune and Im not passing the additional costs one

Sounds great, what kind of money will they be for a set?
What are these then? Upper or lower arms?
Bren when you're ready can you send me a pair via my credit card ending 6088? Thanks
Phil
Theyre rear upper camber arms, rear traction arms and will soon also be rear toe arms :)
What upper arms have i got fitted to my car then? Bought those silver ones off you towards the end of last year
Theyre the same arms but yours were stripped and checked. The same as we are running on our own S13. Youll be getting some new free joints for them :)
Thanks Bren, although i am sure this is a ploy to make me buy rear traction and toe arms too, as "i might as well replace them at the same time if iam removing the rear suspension again" :wack: ;) :)
Bren, will the rear arms go out this week, i'm desperate!!! :)

Will the toe arms be ready this week? i dont want to sound pushy but I cant drive my car at the moment. Shouldnt have lowered it so much
silly me :wack:
Im chasing the bearing guys now.
The bearings will be with the supplier tommorrow so we should have them on Thursday :)
Ooh, does that mean deliveries on Friday then Bren?
I cant promise but if the bearings come through on time then yeah, should do :)
Is this what i need to correct the rear wheel camber? Im interested, how much? :)

Do you have the Joints yet ?
I've just spoken to our supplier about the bearings. They should have been with the suppliers today but they have not arrived. They have been chasing them as they should have been sent to them on a two day service but fedex have put them on a five day service. The suppliers are now checking with their suppliers to find out which service they put them on.
If they put them on a two day service as they were supposed to we may still get them tomorrow. :annoyed:

Hi Bren,
Do you have a fitting guide for the rear camber arms. They have arrived today. Thanks
We missed some bits out of every set of arms. When we removed the original rose joints we slung them in a box. The original arms went back in the original box along with the other fittings. When we got the new rose joints we just put them in the box with the arms and shipped them out.
However the rose joints had spacers tie wrapped to them and the spacers are still in the rose joint box tie wrapped to the original rose joints
Emma and Ann and now frantically packaging up the missing bits whilst the postie is standing in the unit waiting for us.
Sorry guys, too much haste not enough speed. We have simply been too busy recently and its leading to mistakes as we dont have the man power to double check the orders before theyre shipped. However we are aware of this and we have a new girl joining the team on the 4th April to get things running smoothly again :)
You should hopefully all get the missing bits on Sat :)
Sorry again.
do we need to grease up the joints with a certain grease or anything bren?? They look cool :)
Nice deep welds too:thumbs:

No, theyre suppa dooper teflon lined bearings, self lubricating
No, theyre suppa dooper teflon lined bearings, self lubricating
 Thats absolute quality mate :Plug: I recommend just a light 'anti-rusting' grease over the threaded adjuster and nuts then, thats the bits that went a bit rusty on my old arms:thumbs: Can't wait to fit these, I take it I have to wait for spacers then?
did the toe arms get sent out today?
I didnt get mine... so probs going to have another week driving on a sezied rose joint :(
I didnt get mine... so probs going to have another week driving on a sezied rose joint :(
What arms do you have? Well at least you can drive! My toe out is so bad its dangerous to go over 30mph :wack:
Ones with the wrong sort of rose joint....
Ive got shed loads of toe and camber on one rear because it seems to move the retaining bolt the the subframe round :smash:
Rear end still seems planted though!
Theyre not the wrong sort of rose joint. You need to lubricate them. Winter salt and cr@p dont lix well with brass to steel bearings if you dont lubricate them  Rose joints are racing car components, they need looking after.
One of the reasons we have swapped to teflon lined joint is because no one bothers looking after the other ones ;)
Ok.... the wrong sort for lazy SXOC types :p ;)
I didnt get mine... so probs going to have another week driving on a sezied rose joint :(
why haven't you slapped a load of grease on it? I did when mine was squeaking and it worked a treat eventually..
I did... took the arm off and bathed the bearning WD then greased it. Probs a bit far gone now.
Lol... got my spacers in the post today :smash:
Were my arms actually sent wed/thurs Bren? Bit worried they might have gone walkies as i was at home to sign for them...
got the spacers thanx:thumbs:

Thanks again Bren, Ann & Emma :)
To save starting a new thread, any sort of ETA on my GReddy gauge i ordered?
hi bren, Did you send out some s14 rear toe arms and pineapples?
The toe arms arent ready yet, sorry. The bearings for them didnt come witht he others but they will be here next week :) My apologies for the delay. I could send the arms out now but Id rather fit the new bearings to get them as good as possible.
They are worth the wait though, very sexy, Ill get a pic.............
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=17009&stc=1
no problem, they look
They are  Theyll be even better with the new bearings ;)
have the bearings turned up yet?
No, we have tried phoning today but no ones answering. Ill try again now.........
Still no answer  Ive left a message for them to phone me asap.
Sorry Andy. The suppliers told me that the bearings would be through late last week. I chased them as soon as I got back from Germany and they told me that they didnt come through last week, that they wouldnt be through this week and that we would get them next week :(
If Id have know if would take three weeks and not less than one as they said thenb Id have just ordered the parts from the USA myself :annoyed:
:indiff: Fingers crossed for next week then! How much are Cusco one's BTW?
cheers bren :)
These people who make the bearings are right bastards  I wanna kick there heads :annoyed:
Its not the manufacturers. The manufacturers are Aurora in the USA.
The distributer Im using are Racers Hardware.
I phoned Racers Hardware yesterday to be told that theyd had a shipment of four boxes be dispatched from the uSA but only two had arrived. Mmm, really. Im run a mail order business, I know all the gems
I got a load more blah blah blah, rung off, sat there steaming gently and then phoned Aurora themselves int eh USA to vent my feelings to them about their UK distributers and to find out if there are any alternative places I could go to in the UK.
They wer actually reaslly concerned (or appeared to be) and gave me some more leads to try. They were going to contact Racers to see what they are playing at.
They did, howevere, tell me that they had a shipment of bearings about to leave to go to Racers Hardware due to land next week.
That leaves me in a position, do I wait to see if Racers actually produce next week as they say they will or kick them into touch and source the bearings elsewhere?
If I go elsewhere then I might find that stocks are really low because Ive just cleared Aurora out and Racers actually have ordered them all for me
Even if the parts are still available then it could take longer to get them through another diustributer thatn through Racers.
Its a tw@t of a poisition to be in because it makes me look an idiot in front of you guys and I REALLY dont appriciate businesses making me look a fool to my customers just because they cant be straight with me fromt he start.
Thats bang out of order in my book :annoyed:
its ok, ur previous avatar made u look an idiot not this :wack:
im sure everyone realises the score Bren, dinnae fret it.
( i may be not concerned personally cos i know i dont need em for a couple of months though :D :D )
Bren is  Distributor is  and :censored: and :furious:
but another week goes by with my car off the road. :( I wish now i hadn't put the coilovers on. Raising it up and putting the standard camber arms back seems very likely at this rate. :indiff:

My Eibachs are ok for now anyway, the exhaust scrapes on certain speedbumps as it is :annoyed:
By the time the coilovers are done though it will scrape on everything
Hope they turn up so we can get the cars sorted soon

Are toe arms avalible for the s14 then???????????
:D yippy......Can i have a set please! and also some pineapples (s14a)
Card ending 7009. Can you send to my work please. unit 12, Wintonlea.....etc
Thanks guys :)
The pineapples are out of stock for 4-6 weeks. Do you want the toe arms sending now or do you want to wait :)
I dont think i can wait another 4 weeks so you better send them out! Can you throw in a silvia lightning badge if u have one! Thanks:)
Are the camber arms ready yet? I must be running 3 degrees at the rear and its shagging my tyres in no time!
The bearings still havent come through but Ive 95/% sorted a batch elsewhere to be with us first thing next week. Im just checking the technical spec to make sure theyre upto the job.
Cool, can you confirm prices for the camber arms and the toe arms please?
They are currently £135 but they wont be for long. The bearings we are now going to use are HUGE amounts of money, £29+vat EACH!
Any current orders will go through with the new bearings, then the price will go up.
DStanley
12-05-2005, 19:52
yikes, you'd better add some toe arms to my camber arms order then!
does this mean I still get them for £135 each?
Err right so if I order now I get them for £135?
Yes, but only you and only because you have been asking about them for awhile. :)
Little bit of feedback about the Toe Arms.
1. They really need to be supplied with a longer bolt. There's barely any thread poking out the other side (I'll take a picture tomorrow).
2. Cusco shroud their bearings in rubber, probably to help stop them getting dirty, do you recommend doing this? Mine are now covered nicely.
Theyre no wider than th eoriginals are they?
We can get rubber boots, theyre £6 a pair I think. We didnt buy them in because we are already well out of pocket on these arms after changing all the bearings for very high quality items and not putting the price up.
They metal is a bit wider. I erm used balloons, not sure how long they will last but they were £1.49 for 25 ;)

what is the price of a set of rear camber arms for a s13 if i order soon  has the price now con up
We are sending a load of arms out today. We arent taking any more orders for the arms until we have cleared the back orders
Unless you want Cusco, we have them in at £235 :)
I've got mine :D
Miiight try fitting them this weekend or next :D
Can mine stay on the James23 shelf and come out with the rest of my stuff please
has anyone fitted these camber arms to an s13?
I have just removed the whole subframe to change all the bushings and have it painted... I removed the stock camber arms first after I got the subframe out and test fitted the new camber arms but the bolt that goes trough the bearing seamed to be too small? I was in a hurry so I didn“t have time to find any bigger bolts to fit. What size bolts would be good?
Our S13 ones went straight on witht he original bolts as far as I know.
I've got mine :D
Might try fitting them this weekend or next :D
Is it easier to get replacement bolts from Nissan or you Bren?I'm thinking that the arms are going to be a bitch to get off (couldnt even loosen them to adjust the camber a few months ago). I may snap or destroy them trying to undo them, there may be a plastic bush in there too, if I need to heat to remove this will also be destroyed so spares will have to be to hand before the job starts.
We would order it from Nissan, same as you would. We can get them for you if you like, its not a problem :)
Please, both ends, both sides.
why doesn“t your camber arms have wider bearings like these?
Does it matter
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/skidz1/battleversionrearupperarmss13s14.jpg
Why should they have bearings like those?
The stock camber bolts are the bolts that should go trough the bearings? right?
the stock camber bolts are 12mm and the inside of the bearing is 14mm so I don“t think that these should be fitted with the stock bolts.
I“m guessing that those pieces that batleversion have on each side are to make the bearing fit tighter because the mount is much wider than the bearing.
bren, if your went on with the stock bits then did I get wrong parts?
I havent seen the stock camber bolts but presumably they have a cam on them? Doesnt the cam make the diameter 14mm?

Mine have bearings like those
Although instead of being zip-tied into the hole they are in a little plastic bag .....
Mine look identical, but black.
Ah, you dont mean the bearings, you mean the little metal inserts that fit intot he rose joint?
JulesS14200

Are both the toe and camber arms ready? And if so have they all now been sent out?

Yes that was what I meant with the wider bearing.
Should your upper arms include those.
I havent seen the stock camber bolts but presumably they have a cam on them? Doesnt the cam make the diameter 14mm?
No they don“t have a cam in them.
the whole bolt is off center if I remember it right.
Yeah you should have them  Didnt you get them?

Why dont you put them on, but just dont lower it too much, just wack the standard rear arms to the max positive camber setting and the max toe in setting. It should be fine mate

I'd rather get it all on together, I dont really want to put them on and wear my tyres unevenly, and I cant afford to align it now and then again when I get the arms. I know it would probably be ok if I set them at the same height as they are now, but my technical skills are crap and i'll probably find someway to bugger it up

Now I've gotta work out how to fit them
So will you be doing these again in the future bren? With a higher price the reflect the extra work that needed to go into them?
Or is it not work worth doing?
Ad. :)
No we didn“t get them on either set my s13 or my brothers s14 set.
Do they go inside the bearing to make the hole smaler?
You only sent me four pieces. Shouldn“t I have gotten eight because I need them for two cars? two for each arm?
I will make an order later tonight or tomorow so the pieces can come with the order.
