View Full Version : Need to Move, but where? CONTINUED :D
Well, going on a mortgage of £30k, for a house + £5k of improvements... at an average repayment rate of 5%...
The repayments are...
Still £30 less a month than I'm paying to rent a single room, at the moment (albeit with food paid for.)
Madness.
Anyone fancy house-sharing in Oldham? ;)
:D :D :D
-D, plotting, wildly.
Dont move to Coventry, its orrible.

House prices are stupid at the moment full stop. A mate of mine has just spit up with his missus and had to sell his 3 bed detached (well 2 bed and a shoebox) was sold within week for 135 grand and this was with needing new windows the old wood ones are about falling out, the house was built in the 70's. Someone somewhere is having a right laugh.

5% is a bit optimistic innit? You're not just working out the interest are you? There will be a repayment to capital too. You should be able to find monthly payment calculator on one of the lender's websites, try the direct line one.
Best mortgage: check this site - http://www.moneyextra.com/compare/mortgages/
Well Im bloody fed up - trying to buy a place in Berkshire / Hampshire area. 1 bed flats are about £130k, 2 bed about £170k...
Can't fookin afford anything... :(
I was told 5% would be average-ish. Friend of mine and her fiance have just bought a place, and it was about that, and the lady who I share an office with is on pretty much the same.
That was for a repayment scheme, Not the interest-only.
:)
I bought mine in Aug 2001 for 190,000....
Sold it last weekend for 225,000 - on the market 5 days.
Could have waited longer to get the asking price (235) but this couple are cash buyers - so no chuffing chain.
Don't worry chaps, the bubble is about to burst!
I'm gonna rent for a bit and wait for prices to drop and pick myself up a bargain (if there is such a thing in my area)

Jez - Basingstoke is cheap(ish) - but need to get right area. Chineham or Hatch warren are ok.
(NOTE: I'm not saying that I'd recommend living here tho'!)

I'm moving to Northern France as soon as I can find a nice place and commuting back to the UK. House prices over there are sooo cheap eg. 5 bedroom house with pool and triple garage, study, conservatory and 3/4 acre of gardens £185000
But you gotta like garlic :D
