First of hi all, im a newbie so be gentle........

I curruntly own a evo6 which is a lovely car but not for everyday use, a few days ago i test drove a t reg s15 from futurautos very nice helpful people and i am considering doing the deal.

my question is i have never looked at an sx before and therefore have no idea what its weak points are or what to look for! any info would be great i am in your hands!

the car in question appears standard and when i drove it was very comfortable,it is the spec r i did notice the boost gauge did not operate and i must say i didnt feel the turbo cut in, are they progresive in these cars? the evo hit 3K and bang of it goes anything before that is lag city! the only other thing i felt was the gear selection felt ....vague? again the evo is very definate when selecting gear changes, is this normal should i be worried?

thanks in advance and great site i hope to be a fully fledged member once i got the car! :notworthy

the SR engines seem to be very progressive, not like the CA in earlier SX's ( S13's ) which was like a kick in the back as you describe . never been in an S15 giving it beans though sorry.
john bennett on here has an S15 engine and transmission in his S13 so could be worth talking to him about the gearbox feel etc :)

In terms of lag my S15 is pretty progressive, but it still does have a kick to it. Hard to jusge without driving it wether theres something amiss. As its difficult to describe the sensations involved. Shame the boost guage was broken as that would have cleared things up.

As for the gearbox they arent the best Im afraid in terms of feel. Widely considered the S15's achilles heel. The gear ratio's are spot on though.

Heres a thread on Future Autos, you said they seem ok but worth bearing in mind especially if you were looking at a black or silver one

300 bhp is very easy to get on an S15 (decats, exhaust, filter and boost upgrade I think) i'd love one

thanks for the heads up, the yes it is the black and silver ones, the black one i have to say didnt seem bad in terms of paint condition a cuople of chips to the front bumper but thats it? the silver one has a knock in every panel and a riple in the o/s rear panel, the reason for me going there was i wouls like the s15 which are rare and they are offering me 11k for my evo6 which as far as px goes is not bad? i will have a closer inspection though on wednesday and report back! :)

once again thanks!
