We have sorted some sexy new Aeroquip alloy oil cooler kits. The hoses with fittings are very very light and uber sexy. Im going to have to change our kit for one of these as they look ace and the hoses are considerably lighter than the normal stainless version that we offer :)

The kit comes with:

thermostatic sandwich plate (can be substituted for plain or gauge take off if requested)

Aeroquip fittings for sandwich plate

rubber washers

19 row 235mm wide cooler

special Areoquip stainless braided pre cut lines pre fitted with Aeroquip lightweight sexy blue and red fittings

brackets

nuts and bolts

comprehensive fitting guide

The kits are £245 :)

What type of fittings are they?

Blue and red alloy ones  What do you mean?

Ah, theyre -10 :)

Hates_

Blue and red alloy ones  What do you mean?Sorry, meant if they are BSP or the other kind NPT (?) fittings :) One lets you re-use the fittings while the other is crimpped on.

bren
08-02-2005, 19:31
Still dont get you  Whats crimped on to what?

mammoth

the fittings look like re-usable ones. you can tell cause the blue nut scews onto he male red part of the fitting and seals the line wit hthe help of an olive

Still dont get you  Whats crimped on to what? When I was at the MR Tuning we got onto the subject of braided hoses and how BSP fittings can be taken off a length of hose and put on another one, so they are re-usable, while (and I think its NPT) the fittings are actually crimpped onto the hoses. So if you wanted a longer hose you'd have to get new fittings on top of the braided hoses. I could be talking totally bollox. I was just curious thats all :) But after looking closer they look like the reusable BSP type! :D

(And stop ignoring my wheel nut thread :p)

Why would you want to remove them? Or was it just a theoretical "what if I wanted to..." type question? ;)

i dont know which type they are, you guys know more than I do  :p ;)

antony
08-02-2005, 19:42
can you do one with a filter relocation ?

Hates_
08-02-2005, 19:43
Why would you want to remove them? Or was it just a theoretical "what if I wanted to..." type question? ;)Just gives you the freedom to mount the cooler where ever you want and customise your hoses without having to pay for fittings every time you change the length. Gah, I want one now

bren
08-02-2005, 19:45
If you tell me how long you want the hoses then Ill get a custom kit made, its not a problem :)

anthony,

Yeah, no problem but youll have to decide where to mount the remote filter head and let me know the length of the hoses you need :)

antony
08-02-2005, 19:48
ok ill have a mesure up, it will go where the battrey used to be

antony
08-02-2005, 19:49
and how does the pipework go ?

sandwich plate -> hose -> filter take off -> hose -> oil cooler -> hose -> sandwich plate ?

mammoth
08-02-2005, 19:52
you can get all different types of threads with re-usable fittings, not just bsp.
If the fittings on the end of the hoses are -10 the the thread will be AN, but the threads on the cooler will probably be BSp wit hand inverted cone.

bren
08-02-2005, 19:54
Yep  :)

Remember that you can have straight, 45 and 90 degree fittings. If the filter head is bolted to the edge of the slam panel pointing towards the fuse box then the inlet will be on the filter head left (coming in from the drivers wing) and going out straight towards the rad.

antony
08-02-2005, 19:55
right ill have a mesure up

bren
08-02-2005, 19:56
Bear in mind that the fittings are exspensive and that the 90 degree fittings and a chunk more exspensive than straight so use straight if possible

The alloy 90s are around £25 a piece!

We can, of course, put the remote filter kits together using the usual steel fittings which will save an arm and a leg :)

antony
08-02-2005, 19:59
fark, will try and keep it straight then

bren
08-02-2005, 20:09
LOL :D Aye, would be a good idea ;)

bren
08-02-2005, 22:24
Yep, no probs. Both of our 200s have huge FMICs and they both have one of our cooler kits :)

Where abouts is the intended location for these?

I have other crap floating around the front and dont want to find it gets in the way :(

bren
16-02-2005, 10:05
They fit on the chassis rail in front of the rad on the left as you look at it from the front of the car :)

They fit on the chassis rail in front of the rad on the left as you look at it from the front of the car :)

You mean the bit I have modified to fit my front mount
I am hoping I still have enough space for one :smash:
Dont s'pose you have a pic of one fitted?
Its a bit difficult to get an idea of size with nothing to scale it to.

Edit: Just noticed thats an A4 sheet of paper next to it

Just out of interest are these worthwhile things to have?? i.e. do they improve anything or are they just nice to look at? Just wondering cos im tryin to figure things out and learn about things like this as i go along! May just order one when i get my finances sorted again anyway, after all they do look cool!

bren
16-02-2005, 16:04
Theyre light and they look cool. Other than that they do nothing over the usual ones :)

Hates_
16-02-2005, 16:10
Just out of interest are these worthwhile things to have??If your car is quite tuned and you really do use the power or if do track work or drifting they are worthwhile investment for sure

bren
16-02-2005, 16:21
I assumed squidmato meant are the bling kits worth having over the normal kits? Or do you mean are oil coolers worht having full stop? The coolers are defo worth having for a track or hard driven road car  Absolutely no doubt about it.

squidmato
16-02-2005, 16:23
Hmm lighter than standard, that sold it for me :D
Seriously tho, im hoping for about 300bhp with the stuff i have and want, so might get one even if it is just for a minmal benefit! Cheers for the info guys! Think you'll be hearing from me again soonish Bren

could one of the 90deg fittings be substituted for a 3rd straight connector, as I want to have it on its side infront of the rad?

bren
16-02-2005, 20:16
We get a peak of 120 degrees WITH a cooler, imagine what you get without one!

You can specify whatever configuration (spl?) you want :)

Matt_T
16-02-2005, 20:25
excellent:) what thread are the gauge take offs? I've got blitz temp and pressure gauges to put in them, would they go straight in?

bren
17-02-2005, 09:10
You can choose the thread type :)

The sandwich plates only have one gauge take off though, not two. The pressure feed can be taken straight from the oil pressure switch point ont he block.

richieS13
22-02-2005, 14:34
would i still be able to run an oil temp guage and pressure guage

Ann
23-02-2005, 10:35
As Bren said above the sandwich plates only come with one gauge take off so the pressure feed can be taken straight from the oil pressure switch point on the block. :)

just wish i hadnt forked out the cash on a sandwhich plate for fitting my guages before now
