I will most definitely be going at least for one day - hell of an awesome experience to get amongst every peice of serious driving machinery that there has ever been - petrol head heaven although not really a much in the way of Jap cars.

However I can't help you with the camping - personally the drive there/back is part of the fun because the roads are crawling with car enthusiasts and their steeds

Steve,

Have a look at www.goodwood.co.uk and go to the motorsport section for more details.

I have been going to the hill climb (festival of speed) for the past few years now and it is the best day out that any petrol head can go to. You will see some of this years F1 cars, rally cars, classics, bikes, Le Mans cars etc etc. You can also get right up to the cars in the paddock, I nearly got my toes run over by the Ferrari F1 car last year!

Highly recommended

Yeah I will probably be going again. Normally get a b&b nearby that is well nice. Great weekend out but starting to get too popular. Used to be sparcly populated but is gradually getting busier.

We should ask them to get some of the JGTC cars from the last 5 years down there........that'd be smart

Goodwood = the best weekend of the year :D

Last year i went with a few mates for the whole weekend. We drove into the field where the renualt sport trucks were and pitched up under some trees up the back of the field (in pouring rain i might add - but that added to the crack !)

Later on that night we got pissed by the fire and a bunch of french truckers came over and brought a load of wine - which they gave to us - even though we couldnt understand a word they were saying we still managed to have a good laugh.

Then my mate took his supra out onto the field and did a few doughnuts... the loon !

Overall - i would definately recommend camping there ! I dont think its allowed as such - but if you are sly like us (and a few other groups that did the same) and tuck yourself away up the back of the field - they wont bother you (make it look like you are with one of the trucks). I will definately doing it again this year ! :)

Phoned Goodwood this morning and they said their official camp site(next to the track) is now fully booked and that the closest camp site is 3 miles away.

Sounds like we might have to wing it and bring our tents anyway!
