Have you ever driven a 200 mate?

Also, I know you are/were a motor journo, how does a 20 yr old Jap sports car compare with similar cars today, have things come on much or not?

Reason I ask is that the only comparisons I can make in my car are with company vehicles/hire cars, which are almost guaranteed to be slower etc than a 200, and not a fair comparison.

Found out!
Can't say I have had a ***** mate :( :( :(

Thing is, I am dead biased with my car. I love it. I haven't had too many of the hi-po cars here - the boss gets those- but the thing is, mine is perfect for what i like.
Generally, cars seem to be softer now, much gadgets and gizmos to prevent you and the scenery meeting. I like it more raw.
Plus very few of them have full leather interiors...

WHat i wouldn't give for air-con tho... ;)

I had a Evo VI Tommi Mackinen briefly, fun, that was quite hairy but didnt' get to open it up. Honda Accord 1.8 VTEC Sport, nice. But still soft...

I love my starion and I know its limits so drive them them ;)

If I were you I'd take a 200 S13 for a spin mate, go and blag one from a dealer or in auto trader :-)

The reason I ask is my mate had a Starion and drove my 200 last weekend, and said that it felt really similar, except that mine (200) picked up better at higher revs because of the 16v engine.

Give one a try, they are so cheap now you could have 2 cars :)

The 'Sera' man (he runs the club) has a Soarer and posts regularly on the LSOC. We at the LSOC think the Sera is a total poofs car!

Are you gay?

I am of the opinion that Andrew is a recovering nancy-boy and the ownership of a Soarer is making up for his 'poofy' past.

Yeah, I know he's had a Soarer - didn't he sell it tho to get another Sera?
I always like a politically correct comedian at this time of day...

He still has a Soarer, they maybe the cure for getting poofs on the 'straight and narrow', but not that good shirley! (surely?)

I hope he hasn't suffered a relapse! He'll be buggered for sure if that happens.

I assume you're talking about Andrew Cliffe here. Another guy I know, and who has done me a couple of favours in the past.

Yeah, he's cool, I believe him to have a sense of humour, but time will tell!

Edit. Favours, mmmm

Hello chums,

I had a Sera for 4 years from 1998-2002. Total time off road, 1 day whilst I sourced an exhaust. Total problems, 0. Expenditure: £ 0 apart from routine cambelt, air filters, oil filters, fuel filter, rotor arm, distributor cap, plugs oil and one set of tyres.

I sold it for £ 500 less than I paid for it.

I am going to buy a Soarer, but i've just picked up another Sera for very little money, and I'm biding my time looking for my Soarer and will look properly after my wedding in little over a month.

Sera: pros - small, nippy economical, reliable
cons - small,

Yes, its only got a 1500cc engine and only has 110bhp - but for anyone wanting to be different on a budget, then the Sera is better than most.

I seem to remember that it was only one or two of you big boys at the LSOC thought the Sera 'poofy' !! :p

Why am I changing cars: - overly familiar with the Sera having run one every day for over 4 years! I'd like a change! I bet the Soarer that replaces it, is better in many ways, but will do some things less well.

Toodle-pip.

Andrew

Andrew, I thought you'd got your V8?

Edit. #I seem to remember that it was only one or two of you big boys at the LSOC thought the Sera 'poofy' !! #

Not everybody is as blunt as me.

I'll agree with you there, Andrew helped me out a great deal when i was considering an imported car, he must have spent a good couple of hours getting background info for me.

After Andrew had done all of that my situation changed at work, and i couldn't get an imprted car. But the knowledge and information that Andrew gave me i still have, and have never had any cause to doubt any thing that i was told!

I have been reading the board for a while, as i know Keith, and his barge  ;) :p And reading this i felt compelled to finally registered and post my comments

Not got V8 yet, or even TT, was going to get one, but a low mile Sera came my way for a very reasonable price (which some toerag broke into the day before yesterday :( )

After the wedding, we're going to smash open piggy and have a rummage down the back of the sofa, see how much we've got and we're going shopping

Between TT or V8 *still* undecided, perhaps the best value of those out there at the time (theres a 94TT for sale in the UK for £ 5500)

Andrew
exhibiting my Sera at the Birmingham NEC Sportscar Show next weekend.

You are right!

The car ain't queer, it's the drivers, silly!

Mexican moustasches and CDs' ain't either, but if you 'sport' the moutasche and listen to 'The Village People' well you know what I mean.

I think its great, all the really good looking guys are shirt-lifters, that gave me a 'fair crack' at the girls when younger.

Iain, were you born this much of a d*ck or do you practice?!

Firstly, the message was FAO Starionman, I wanted his opinion (hence his name in the subject) and not yours.

Secondly, I really love your broad generalisations about peoples sexuality, I personally am straight, but that doesn't give me the right to judge someone because they are different from me. What are you going to start on next? Skin colour, sex, geographical location??

Seriously mate, I think you genuinley need professional help, you're full of pointless comments and opinions, perhaps you should go and see a psychiatrist about your constant need to provoke a reaction.

Ahh dammit, and now I've almost sunk down to your level... You fcuking tool.

Ouch DL - nice one mate.
I don't yet own Village People nor do I have a moustach (thank god).
Iain - I can't work out if your being straight up or generally insulting...
Then again, you did jsut compliment all the "shirt-lifters" for being better looking than you...

On a related note, if anyone is getting hacked off with comments from users (not necessairly iain), don't forget there's an ignore function to block their comments.

For example, to block Iain, Click Here (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/member2.php?s=&action=addlist&userlist=ignore&userid=272)
