Anyone know anything about or use Skype webphone? I was talking to someone about it today,is it any good,cam you call land and mobile numbers?

I tried to use it once. appears you can only call other prople with skype so it's not a real phone

This was breifly talked about on here last year, but didn't seem to impress anyone.

Just seen it in action, and im really impressed. Originally it was mentioned that you could only call another Skype phone- that isnt the case.

Calls just about anywhere seem cheap compared to BT/NTL.

Anyone got any experiences with this?

I've been using it for a while to talk to mates around the country and a mate in Norway. The mate in Norway is on a dial up link and we have not had any problems. It's highly recommended :thumbs: All it needs is the ability to connect a webcam next.

i use it all the time and it great IMO.

The reason it's banned here (it's a Uni BTW) is several fold.
Prime concerns are network security, always an afterthought with something like this.
Also the fact it relies on a P2P engine, something else universitys find apporant.

works well for me. i use it all the time. cheaper too especially as i call abroad alot. and just as effective as MSN. seems a bit slower @ file transfers but otherwise for offering live support its pretty good.

connection has always been superb, and the people on the other end of the stick dont know whether you've used a landline or not.

i use it to catch up with my buddies in the US, Canada and Europe.

any security issues seem to be predomininantly PC based, not mac based ;-)

i think they did an upgrade to sort this out on the PC anyway. so ive you've an older PC version simply upgrade it
