Weird Headlights

As I've been driving about over the last few days I've noticed a number of cars (usually from our automobile challenged 'friends' in XR3s etc) with tape at the top of their headlights masking the top 1/4 off.

Anyone know why they do this as it surely can't improve the performance of the lights?

I'm not commenting one way or the other about whether I like it, I'm just curious as to what it's all about.

It doesnt make the lights any better, it's just a "styling" mod, supposed to make them look meeeeean and fast.
It's supposed to scare you when you see it in your mirror! not wonder why he has masking tape on his lights.

Sounds like a cheap arse version of the 'bad boy bonnet' that Nova/Saxo/Corsa boys fit. Basically they weld a triangle of metal to the edge of their bonnet to make their car look mean and reduce the effectiveness of their lights.

I imagine the extra retarded barries are now sticking tape over their lights for the same effect. Brilliant!

i used to have an eyebrow on my scirocco. i think it used to be a vw thing which got coppied. when i first got that car i used to think how fast it was. oh well still was a nice car

actually the airflow over the car is unchanged, however underneath is changed, for the better, and yes you will go faster.
