I've been thinking about one of those myself. I usually repair sony's (work at a service centre) but from what I've seen of them, pioneer's are very nice units. I''ve seen it at cel-direct.com for £250, anyone seen it any cheaper?

Marcos, is there a problem with high levels of warranty repairs on sony's CDXM610 head unit?

I have had one of these for 4 months, but it kept on refusing to accept CDs. I took it to a Sony Service Centre, but when I got it back the flip down front sounded like it was going to explode every time it opens..! It's not actually broken but it sounds like it's going to again any minute...

Just wanted your thoughts

Cheers

I have a pioneer deh p9100r, its not an mp3 but its a very nice picee of kit, would thoroughly recommend one.

Make sure you look around when buying, at the time i got mine halfords wanted £800 for it, and i got it for 450 for a place in leicester.

Wirings dead easy, just buy some adaptor cables, but you might also need a separate one for the aerial, which was 25 quid :(

Agree with yer on the price thing - Halfords want £379 and a couple of offers on the web are asking £249!!

Bl00dy crazy prices!

I'm not aware of a problem specifically on the 610, do you still want it repaired?

Hi Marcos,

I'm not sure what you could do to repair it. Since I got it back the front display flip motor is scrreaming bloody murder, the CD feed still ejects from time to time & refuses to accept any CDs, and once a CD is in, it takes about 7 -10 presses of the eject button to get it to respond & eject the CD.

When it went in for repair under warranty, Sony (Service Centre at Heathrow) replaced the chassis to fix the "CD not loading" problem.

The unit is still under warranty, but I don't know what they will do about it because the faults are either intermittent or do not constitute "being broken" (i.e. the front flap still opens, lust noisily!)

Wot do u reckon? is it worth taking back for another look??

Cheers,

Phyza

I'm suprised heathrow treated this like that, thats sony's UK headquarters. If it is operating ok, they may argue it is operating within specs. If youu can get it to our workshop I can take a look for you but its in north kent.
