To be honest I'm not bothered about drifting, excelpting watching the vids. But on the way back from Xmas dinner at my sisters I passed my large private carpark covered in snow so went for 10mins of fun.

Too much understeer, the clutch/handbrake seemed the best way, was OK swinging it side to side up the "straight" but couldnt get it round the hairpins at either end with any style.

I think I'm a lost cause guys, will stick to trackdays.

Made plenty of wooshing noises, pops bangs ect, kept it on LPG which normally is like 10X more pops and bangs than fuel, attracted a crowd of 14 yr old admirers :ghey: and left at that point.

Sounds like you're trying to go into the corners way too fast. That's nasty trackday thinking that is :D

handbrake works well in the snow, dont use the clutch as its too violant and you will just spin, you wont need much speed to do it in the snow aswell :)

you can even drift a rwd flatbed tranny van with an open diff in the snow :)

I found the Starion very difficult to drift and donut tonight on some private land - too much weight over the back wheels and too short a wheelbase I think. Got there eventually though and soon had the back end hanging out :D. It's definitely not as easy as the 200 for such antics though

I know - I got a perfectly-held 5mph drift all along the empty high street tonight :o. Hope the CCTV had a good covering of snow on the lense :wack:

I'm not too bothered, just seemed rude not to have a go, I'll not try and get it sorted, still need to improve the track driving too, be smoother

wear a classic leather bikers jacket and jeans with huge turnups and talk in your best fonzy impression with a comb protruding from your top pocket if you want to be smooth :D

I suffered from understeer (in the dry!) when I first went drifting. Went through my fronts as fast as my rears!

You'll either be going in too fast, or applying to much lock. Cure the former by going in slower and applying the power just before you need it (account for turbo spool up) in a classic power-oversteer stylee. Cure the latter by winding on less lock :wack: Sounds counter intuitive but you'll get better response by letting the car weight shift naturally rather than simply winding on the lock to get it to turn in. If you still can't get it to work then try steering away from the corner before steering into it and applying the power (rally driver alert), but gently/slowly does it because you don't need much weight transition to get it going, and you'll be surprised at how little speed you need to move the wheel with to get something happening!

I think it was probably a mixture of too much lock, and not enough/ineffective Scandinavian Flicking.

Its still snowing here :D Might have another go today :D

Its sunny in crack city now. No snow drifting for me, which is probably a good thing because i got caught by the plod in a volvo last year.

If you find it difficult drifting on snow, try drifting on some ice, on a *LEVEL* surface (on private land of course!), with no CCTV!!

It's easier with auto, because you can be very graded with the throttle but should be possible with manual too. When the back goes out, ease up on the throttle so that you're not accelerating anymore (and also, not doing engine braking) and that should be it :)

Had some great fun today myself (it had snowed, melted then frozen over night :) )

I had a play in the snow in a deserted car park late last night, great fun and my first go at drifting, I'm not too good either, so dont worry, wanted to spend more time doing it but the wife said she wanted to go home :wack:

Arent our cars absolutely sh1te in the snow, wont even get up the slightest snow/ice covered incline

So borrowed a friends freelander and been ragging it across the snow covered hills :D So there is a point to 4wd's ;)

Even though I dont know anything about offroaders I didnt expect much from the freelander, so I was really suprised how cool it was, traction was excellent and didnt threaten to come unstuck on even the steepest snow covered slopes

I love the snow :D

Had to pick up a car from my college (cos the damn thing quit working :smash: ) during lunch break this week. It was snowing the whole morning, and when we went to pick it up. Every road was covered in snow :notworthy :notworthy

First corner i took went into a nice slow motion drift. :D My college was very scared at the moment :ghey: but when he saw i did well he was exited :p

Now all the snow is gone

I´ve been drifting like crazy in snow we have here now. I love it. I have studs in my winter tires and most streets have been covered in snow or ice. The best way for me is to flick the car sideways before I reach the turn.

Fun fun :D

Well imo using LPG to drift is useless!!!!!

Nothing like Optimax and octane booster for sum good power juice!!!!

You havent felt the torque of my car on LPG ;)
I had no problems getting the back end lit up on the snow, wouldnt use it on tarmac though :indiff:
