View Full Version : Cd changer units
Was thinking of mounting it under the parcel shelf.
Wat u think? anyone done it b4? S13 btw and its got mdf backing it up.
Was gonna just mount it on the bootfloor as b4, but im thinking that ill be filling the boot with ice (cubes) at billing and i dont wanna have it swimming about obviously!
Was fine on bootfloor, didnt jump at all.
Or i might well make a wee shelf for it and other stuff under the parcel shelf.
Anyone ever mounted a changer in a woofer enclosure, logic says noooooooooo, but id be interested to know if anyones tried it.
Cheers
Kev
kev , do not mount it on the parcel shelf! mine used to/still moves on corners, its the sudden stop that makes the cd jump! my changer currently lives in the rear passenger footwell jammed in by the seat and no probs! in short anywhere solid will do. inside sub box??? how you change discs???? got my jbl 15 in but cant box it (no good with wood) ,thinking of putting my jbl amp on side of box on a heatsink, any ideas/views on that? need a 3 cu ft box for sub, any designs or dimensions for an s13? anyone??

Never even thought bout that
LMAO:rolleyes:
I suppose it would be possible to design it it such a way that the rear seat acted as part of the enclosure, then u could just let it down to change Cd's, wouldnt be very good though, not sealed........
Ill get me coat then.........................
Kev,
The install in my car is not sealed.
Solved the problem by using a couple of 12" Free Air subs.
The bass is not noticeable outside the car but inside is excellent quality.
Might be louder when I upgrade from my 2 x 300W subs and 600W amp to 2 x 800w subs with a 1200W amp.:D

i put my changer behind the drivers seat. no-one ever sits there cos theres no room so it's better than behind the passenger seat which you can shift forward if you really need to put a third person in the back. just be careful drilling the holes to screw it in - the fuel tank is pretty close.
Mine was mounted vertically on the rear seat back rest. No jumping etc, it currently lives under the passenger seat and still no jumping.
My friend has his on the rear parcel self (not a 200) and it jumps because the shelf moves more.
