View Full Version : Are we the best or what?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...not the 200 board (although in its field I think it must be the very best).........I'm referring to my redoubtable employee, BBC Radio Cumbria!!!!
We've got three nominations for Sony Awards tomorrow night - they're like the Oscars of the UK Radio industry. Last year we were officially the best BBC local radio station in the BBC.....after tomorrow night...who knows?!?!?!?
We're in for best radio station, best coverage of a news story (foot and mouth disease), and best programme!
Hmmm....all that food and drink on exes, all those celebs, and lil' ol' me in penguin suit at the Grosvenor Hotel!
Despite your youthful views on BBC local radio - do wish us luck guys!
None of the other miserable b's have, so I'll wish u luck mate!
( I have been known to listen to BBC local radio on occasions   ...but only for the travel news! Honest!!)
yeah mate best of luck, (let us know who the most famous celeb you talk to is)
The BBC employ Sara(h) Cox
They shjould never be prasised in their lifetime. ITV digital was more s pectauclat the nthen BBC

A Gold and a Silver, reckon there's a hangover and a few stories from that event.
Yup.....a Gold and Silver.....
Gold for best radio station in the country with an audience of under a million!!!!!!!
Silver for best community programme!!!!
Nomination for best coverage of a news story!!!!!!!!!! (and that's against ALL the competition. not just local radio.....we were up against the Holy Cross school story in Northern Ireland and John Simpson's reports on the fall of Kabul!!!!!)
And as if that wasn't enough...on Friday we got a highly commended for another programme we entered in the BT Awards.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY YYYYYY!
Hmmmmmmm the Sugar Babes very nice!!!!!!!!!
P!ssed or what!!!!!!!! Nearly chucked on the train coming back.
Low point of the evening (and I only remembered last night, shows how pissed I was) was voluntarily getting my picture taken with Tony Blackburn!!!!!!! nice bloke though.
For the psycophants...here's the list of the celebs I can remember:
John Peel.....toppest man; Tony Blackburn; Clive Anderson;Andy Kershaw; Liz Kershaw; Mark Lamacq; Krishnan Gurumurthy; Steve Wright; Janet Suzman; Nicola Paget; Sally Phillips (throw yourself at me Sally); Fergal Sharkey; Sugar Babes; Steve Gambaccini; couple of Government big wigs; Nicholas Witchel (is he a celeb?); John Mortimer; Ricky Gervaise; I can't remember any more now...damn. Got a list somewhere.
