Diff Identification

Took the LSD out of the R32 yesterday, to keep for my S14 diff, which is going into my S13. There are no markings on the case, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort it is. I know it does the job, just a bit curious as to who it is made by, and if it's a 2 way or not.

get some pics through the holes. If you can see how many plates it has it'll be easier to identify. also the shape of the keyway, then you'll know if its 2 way or 1.5 way:)

I'll try, but I think that's about as much as you can see, and I don't think you can see how many plates there are.

I'll have another look before I fit it into the other casing.

Well, it has twelve plates in all.

Drama now as the S14 shafts don't fit, as in they are too long because the LSD isn't "hollow" like the S14, and the splines are different. Feck knows how R32 and S14 diffs are sold as one and the same :no:

I have an open S13 diff, which has just been welded, so tried the shafts from that. The splines match, but the long one is too long, and the short one fits into the long side, and the long one is too long for either side. Also, they don't lock in like they should, so may have to be held in by the driveshaft if I can't get anything to fit, and machine the long side down to fit.

Maybe S13 LSD ones are what I'm looking for. Anyway, I'm going to drink and chill now.

yeah, you've got the same problem I had. you need some S13 LSD shafts :(

do the skyline shafts not bolt up to the S13 driveshafts?

Thought so. Every bugger is after them, but i know who has a diff, though it'll cost me a ton.:(

The liner shafts are 5 bolt, and also on the car i just sold, so no.

try giving option a shout. thats where I got my shafts from, tell brett I told you to and that I think hes the greatest :ghey: hahaha

I've got Brett's number:) I'll try him out. I'll need to be sure they'll fit before wasting my hard earned, but don't see a way around that....:(

well, you could always sell the VLSD on if the shafts aren't right I guess?

theres an RPS13 D1 car which runs BNR32 output and driveshafts, I think they're 2mm thicker and don't have a skinny part. That could be a last resort?
