We've got a batch of the new S13 Mongoose systems through. They now feature 70mm pipework and have a 5" slash cut tailpipe.

Theyre £319 for a turbo back system:

bren
09-12-2004, 16:11
I dont have any pics of the full system but imagine a bit of metally type pipe with a bend in it and a silencer half way along and your halfway there :p

They have two silencers :)

09-12-2004, 17:37
Bren, do you want an S13 guinea pig to test one of these on? :wack: :D
70mm is all I'll need TBH ;)

Looks pretty damn good to me

The old goose was standard bore (2.25 inch).

More pics please :)

bren
09-12-2004, 17:45
Theyve already been test fitted Im afraid ;)

Youll have to excuse the lack of staging for the pic, you should see what we have to do before we can go home, LOADS of stuff to put away so Ive no time to set up pretty pics  :)

Eh, wheres the back box? Or are the new ones in 3 sections... or was the old one in 3 as well? Been too long since Ive been under my car

bren
10-12-2004, 10:02
The back box is in the first picture :)

Yak
10-12-2004, 10:08
Aye, but I was expecting it to be on the end of the 2nd pipe...or am I being compleatly dence thinking the old mongoose was in 2 sections?

bren
10-12-2004, 10:16
The Goose is in three sections :)

Yak
10-12-2004, 10:18

Yak
10-12-2004, 12:22
For some reason I though the old ones where 2 part... anyway new one looks very simular to the old one appart from the back box :smitten:

Paul200sx
10-12-2004, 12:39
im tempted by one of these. just because i dont want a silly loud exhaust. how do these compair to the old one? are they louder or about the same?

or how do they compair to your new 2 box systems? noise level.

i fancy somthing with a bigger bore and jap tail pipe but dont want it to be silly loud.

Thanks

Paul

bren
10-12-2004, 12:52
Ive not heard one so dont know how loud they are

Paul200sx

If they fit straight onto the S13 Silvia, I think I'll have one. Are they better than the Apex one? I had one on my old 200 and it was a bit noisy, but very nicely put together.

10-12-2004, 21:55
Mitch: The systems are exactly the same from car to car for CA S13 cars. It will fit :)

Bren: Nice nails :D:D:D

The quality isnt even in the same ball park as our systems. Its like comparing a Fiat Punto with the new Bently Continental.

Theyre good for the money though :)

I do take care of my hands you know ;)

Cheers Matt

How much more will it be to have the Apex system from turbo back, Bren?

bren
11-12-2004, 11:43
200,

Ive no idea if itll fit in your rear bumper Im afraid.

Mitch,

Our complete system would be £425 at the moment but Im hoping to get the price down further :)

Mitch
11-12-2004, 12:11
I'll wait then if you recommend it over the 'Goose and it's not too much extra. I've got money burning a hole, so don't take too long ;) :D

13-12-2004, 12:02
And how does it fit under the car. I mean does the tip looks up to the air just like your apex exhaust. JDM style.

Or does it look straight like a DTM style? If you know what i mean...

bren
13-12-2004, 12:17
I dotn know how they fit, we have only sold one of them so far :)

If I fit an SR20DET to my S13, will I have to change the whole Mongoose system, or can I just change the front pipe?

bren
13-12-2004, 12:54
The Mongoose is a sleive together system so you wont be able to integrate an S14 front pipe without modyfication.

Mitch
14-12-2004, 01:04
And the Apex? Just looking to the future (now, it's only just begun-uuu uuunn) Sorry, just getting into the Christmas spirit(s):D

-WJ-
14-12-2004, 08:27
ok, since I've bought one of these, I think I'm the first buyer then ? So up to me to get fitment and fitted pics ? DAMN !

will do :)

bren
14-12-2004, 09:30
The Apex system is bolt together. The S14 front pipe will stop short of the cat back system though, there should be a cat connecting them. I cant tell you how the S14 front pipe will fit on the S13 other than that it wont be a straight fit

WJ,

Yep ;)

Mitch
14-12-2004, 12:48
I'll go for the Mongoose then. Can always flog it if I get an SR.....

Got my Walbro today, BTW. Was hoping you'd have waited so I could have ordered together to save on postage, but cheers for the fine service anyway:D. Yet again no lolly:(

bren
14-12-2004, 12:51
Sorry matey, I didnt realise you were about to order and exahsuts, I thought you were just interested for the future.

You need to say things like "DO NOT SEND PUMP YET", that would have worked ;)

So you want a Goose sending out?

Mitch
15-12-2004, 03:53
:D Fair one, though I didn't expect the walbro to arrive before I'd phoned up, you were just too darned hyper efficient

Yes please, I'll have the Mongoose, and also a rear Whiteline ARB. Do I get a discount as I've more or less done my own group buy on those? I think this will be either my ninth or eleventh  (Can't remember if I got them for the S14A I had)

So just to confirm. Please may I have a Mongoose exhaust with a big ol' tailpipe and a rear Whiteline anti roll bar for an S13 please. :)

And if there are no lollies or crimbo cake with this one, that's me and you finished.

Until my next order :D .

The parts are already discounted. If I drop the roll bar price then we would be selling them with zero profit. The suppliers keep inching the roll bar prices up but we dont raise our retail

The Mongoose should be £389 so its already hugely cheaper than it should be ;)

Ill send you some free stickers if you like  :p

Bren, just trying my luck, mate-I know your prices are the bomb  Stickers and lollies will suffice:D

Dud and Paul-You'll hear it if the fcuking thing starts :wack: Tried firing it up yesterday and it's not playing the game. Need to get medieval on it's ass when I get back from Cardiff  :smash:

Quick question :) as I eventually want one of these and my current goose is knackered... and I'm in the market for a custom turbo elbow...

Is this new Mongoose in identical sections to the standard exhaust, ie could you just fit the first, second or third parts on their own or a combination of two to the standard set-up or would the dimensions or connections be totally different, ie would they bolt together and would they meet up in the middle like the Jap stuff is designed to do?

Basically - I may need to fit a different frontpipe to fit a custom turbo elbow and would like the new Mongoose to fit it

Many thanks

Mitch
16-12-2004, 18:02
Got mine today:D

No stickers or lollies :(;)

See what you mean about the quality difference between them and the apex:nod: It's not too bad but could be better.

bren
16-12-2004, 18:13
I was wrong when I said they sleive together. The olds ones did but the old ones are now bolt together. I even posted pictures of the parts and still didnt notice  :annoyed:

However I dont know how the Mongoose sections compare to the originals, I dont know if they are interchangeable or not

Mitch

Are the gaskets you have in stock? (I'd like to fit the exhaust next week if poss)

Cheers

Mitch

bren
17-12-2004, 13:49
They were sent out yesterday :) Youre getting 20 quids worth of gaskets for free  ;)

Mitch
17-12-2004, 14:05
Wasn't getting at you, mate, as you know I think your service is :notworthy :D

Just that Citylink have been today and the gaskets weren't the package I got, so I figured you were out of stock. Don't be  it's Christmas ;) :D

bren
17-12-2004, 14:48

So are the pics you've posted in this thread a Mongoose system, cos from the pics it looks like a bolt together system.

Come on Ash, pay attention at the back:D

The system looks pretty good, but the pipe might be a bit  for some tastes;) I got a bit of grief at work from the lads

20-12-2004, 09:07
got the new system in, and boy, does it look gooooood !
my bird's cat found it quite interesting, and nestled itself in the tailpipe :)
sorry to say I won't be the first one fitting this unit, since I'm selling the current S13 and trying to find a new one...

Mitch
22-12-2004, 04:44
Well, I fitted mine yesterday, and it fits well, and looks good. The engine is running now, and the Mongoose has quite a nice burble, but has only really been idling, as the car isn't driveable yet.

http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13834&stc=1

The two rear gaskets fit like a dead epileptic, mate, but the front is fine. I don't want to sound ingrateful, it's just to save you returns in the future. I was going to lengthen the gasket bolt holes, but the bore is too big and the gas would escape through them. I'll be off to partco to try and match something up. I bolted it together and there is a slight blow, but better than you'd expect with no gaskets fitted.

Chris B
22-12-2004, 07:56
Wrong gaskets perhaps? 3" gasket maybe?

Looks like the exhaust fits very nicely though :)

Maybe one of us should ask Mongoose if the sections are direct replacements and interchangeable with the standard system sections

Mitch
22-12-2004, 08:14
Yeah, deffo wrong gaskets for this system, but they were freebies from Bren, so no complaints from me:)

It does fit nicely, and has pretty good ground clearance looking under the car....

bren
22-12-2004, 11:03
They are the only gaskets we had, I just sent them out assuming the flanges on the Mongoose would be the same as the S13, Evidently not, sorry.

alanjuggler
22-12-2004, 11:35
why not just use liquid gasket, it solves everything.

in true s13 fashion, you have to bodge it otherwise it's not worth it ;)

Mitch
01-01-2005, 08:36
Did you get the gaskets, Bren?

Just to say, the car drives well enough with the Mongoose, and sounds quite cheeky too:D Not mental loud like the Apex one, but I :smitten: my old Apex

Kev

im tempted i have to say, very tempted.
Bren , do these geese have a lifetime warranty also?

Chris, the old geese had lifetime warranty so u get the faulty bits replaced foc from wherever u got em.
I got mine from nd 4 years ago.

The old system was slot together and "U" brackets to join them, the new system is bolt together so they will not be interchangeable :(

Mitch id be really interested to hear what they sound like.
Bren obviously ur gonna big up ur own ones (which btw was the easiest exhaust ive ever fitted, everything fell into place) but why do u think these are poor quality?
Im very happy with the quality of my current goose.

I didnt like the sound of the apex on my car btw, thats y im considering the new goose

I don't think he meant they are poor quality Kev, just that the Apex ones are better made. The Goose welding does leave some to be desired, but it's not really going to affect the performance, and at the end of the day you're only going to see the tailpipe. It fits just fine, too

bren
04-01-2005, 10:45
Mitch,

Aye, the gaskets landed back with us, thnaks :)

Kev,

You can see the quality difference just looking at the two systems. I dont thinkt he Mongoose are poor quality, theyre perfectly acceptable, its just that ours are superb ;) The new ones are even better and address the sound issues of the original systems.

Lay one of our systems next to a Mongoose, Blitz, Apexi etc and youd never say that ours are inferior quality to any of them

Gee
04-01-2005, 22:44
I agree with Bren about his new S13 systems the look almost too good to fit, mine is still looking shiny stashed under my bed!

I bought mine from Rich Seal in 2003 so I don't get the advatage of the warranty :(

I'm also interested to know whether the new geese have a lifetime warranty like the old ones, IIRC their recent ads say they do but I'd like confirmation from a trader

I would like to know whether the new Mongoose sections are interchangeble with sections from a standard RS13 exhaust....

...I may require a different downpipe due to a special turbo elbow that won't mate with the goose downpipe :D

Bit of a :ghey: question this one but do these exhausts exit dead strait or are they angled at all? Couldnt really tell from your pics mitch.

Mitch
11-01-2005, 04:34
Just straight backwards, I think mate:nod:

Can check later for you(I'm not going out there now:D)

12-01-2005, 21:42
Mitch, how does the sound of the new goose compare to the old twin exit goose? Louder, deeper?
I'm trying to decide between one of the new geese at £319 (?) and sell on my SE front pipe for say £40, or go for one of the new Apex twin box systems at £295.
I can see that the welds and general build quality of the Apex looks far superior to the goose, but I reckon I'd go for the quieter if the two. Maybe if Bren could get a customer with a new goose and one of his twin box systems he could do a dB comparison?
Prefer the look of the Apex as it's more angled upwards, but if it's too loud then looks aren't enough ;)

Terror
13-01-2005, 19:48
And just out of interest could you get a db reading for your S13 single box as well please?

bren
13-01-2005, 20:49
I cant test the single box on our car. Id have to fit a brand new system just to take the reading.

Howevere I will be running round 200SX meets sticking my db meter up peoples tailpipes and getting them to hold 4500rpm to sort out a database
