G'day fellas,I'm new here, live in Australia,S15 owner, suprised to see so much Silvia love in GB,I thought you guy's all drove Morris Minors, only kidding,I married a pom,her old man did his apprentiship(mechanic) in England,so I am aware of the car scene over there.More looks than performance compared to here. Our fuel only$1.00 a litre,Probably why.Did you guys get the S15 new over there

Hi. No we never got the S15. There are a very few Jap import S15's over here. Fuel is about 3 x what you pay then :(

Did you get any silvias new,we only got the S14 & S15.The poor yanks cant even import one and legally register. They stick the S15 front on there 240 SX with that horrible truck engine.Ithink we also got the S12,Gazelle in OZ,not sure which engine.Your S14 looks cool, not much bling bling
Hello :)
We got the S12 (CA18ET) , S13 (CA18DET) and S14 (SR20DET) over here as UK cars. S15s only available on import.

The S12 was called Silvia over here, the S13 (fastback RS13 CA18DET only) was sold as a 200SX over here, and the S14 was a 200SX (SR20DET). I got a Silvia import (although I was actually after an RPS13 180SX).
Not much bling, its eventually getting a Hippo Sleek kit which I have sitting here at the moment.
BTW I'm using the same turbo as you (10cm2) what sort of power you making on it?
More looks than performance compared to here.
i think you will find on this board performance is much more impotant than looks. (that's the cars, not the members)
unfortunately there are other UK car clubs / magazines and youth cultures that are decidedly all show and no go, but we don't talk about them in polite conversation!
welcome
Yes - one over on Jez and Papa
We got the RS12 hatchback Silvia with a choice of CA18ET and FJ20ET engines. :) We didnt ever get the Gazelle S12 bodyshape as a UK car

Walbro pump,SS Autochrome ANYTHING,E Manage. We have some of the best ecu's in OZ,,Autronic,Motec considered to be the best in the world.PFC most popular by far in OZ.Its my first day on this site,I'm just making observations dont mean to be critical,we follow the Japanese lead, dont touch much US stuff for imports
Agreed on the SS stuff - seems to be rubbish from what I've seen.
Walbro pumps are interesting - a lot of people here have had problems with Bosch which is why you'll find a lot of people with the Walbro. I've had both and they've both been fine.
I think the main reason people go for the emanage is down to price - PFC and proper ECUs are very expensive.
Just out of interest, how much do the cars go for in Oz?
I thought you guy's all drove Morris Minors...
ROTFL :D :wack:

We tend to choose what works :) Have to pay so much for petrol, see! Walbro pump - very reliable, people have had a few problems with Bosch motorsport pumps but theres very few issues with these, outflows most things bar a Supra pump. Most of your HKS etc stuff is rebranded OEM Denso etc.
I've got a Power FC Pro myself to replace the E-manage as I need to up the rev limiter. Maybe should have gone for the D-Jetro version (or just gone straight for a Haltech E11) but I guess this will do for the moment. The E-manage does the job, it has timing control, controls my 550's/Z32 MAFS perfectly and it cost me little more than an S-AFC 3 years ago so I was happy with that. Its also used in at least one pro D1 car that I know of, possibly more. The other systems you mention are in a different league to the E-manage or even the PFC in terms of capability, but are rather expensive and require professional installation.
SSAutochrome - yeah. Still amazing how they do it for the money. I believe the same stuff is re-sold in Australia by various people. The way I see it if it breaks you can replace it cheaply. Obviously wouldn't go near an SSAutochrome turbo or anything like that!!
Like you am interested in how different people do things :)
Hello
I occasionally go on the Oz site/Forum - nissansilvia.com, nice to get a different opinion on things, hope you enjoy your stay :D

Welcome :) I'm forever planning on moving to Perth in a year or so time :)
Have you got any pictures of your S15?
Hi mate. Welcome to the BB.
I've been forever telling people that the choice of performance kit over here is crap compared to Oz, and is extortionate compared to Oz. Don't think anyone believes me. Problem is that most stuff would have to be shipped over here specially, which means shipping, duty and tax.
I'm over in Brisbane visiting my folks in February and I'm hoping to get details of parts and prices to bring back with me. :D
Hello and welcome
Whereabouts in Australia are you? I'm planning a trip (and hopefully something a bit longer term ;) ) out there in 2005

Personally I love the wing...I have a massive carbon one to go on mine, even bigger than that!
Still its not naff over here...we dont have Novas and Corsas running round with 747 wings on though....
Hi,
Nice car, i too like the wing. Is your engine internals standard for the power your pushing out?
Personally I love the wing...I have a massive carbon one to go on mine, even bigger than that!

Lol, Nova's and Corsa's with 747 wings ROFL :wack:
And you had those big old Holdens before we finally got one over here
Personally I think the S15 is gorgeous and exactly what should have followed the RS13, the Nissan designers probably went a bit off the rails when they styled the S14, they tried to correct it with the facelift but forgot about the rear end needing to be more pert
Only the rear lights stop the S15 from being totally perfect IMO :)
S15 Silvia Spec-R's rock, some of the colours are my favourites too, that metallic blue is very sexy

Shut it Chris :ghey:
Owners of sheds dont have an opinion IMO. :p
And as my 14a is out of the shed category now im allowed 1 :D
The s14 was the 200sx that gripped me in to the 200sx world although there were quite a few s13s coming in aswell.
its once you see the 14A that that the car stands out and the s15 was a logical progresion.
By the way very nice s15 :notworthy

I change the way the car looks monthly lol.In the last 2 photos the car has been lowered further, the lowest point of the car is 2 inches(5 cm)the legal limit is 4 inches,I cant fit a bodykit cause it would rip off in a day, dont like them anyway, skirts are for chicks. Will have a carbon fibre bonnet and boot soon,I wont attach the C West wing to that. The engine internals are stock and I went looking for a bigger turbo today, will purchase the Greddy T67 shortly,I dont like guessing RWHP figures but it should be over 400,still running standard internals, its all in the tune....to a point. The photos dont do the height justice, its the lowest one I've seen in OZ,and if it was'nt a daily driver I'd try and lower it further , although the exhaust would be at risk. When I purchase the T67 I will leave the wastegate screamer pipe vented to atmo, should sound great at full boost.
The S14 does look out of place and I never considered one, until I saw a bodykit(which I normally hate) brought out by ings+1 called D Spec,it makes the S14 look as good if not better than the S15.
Their web add. is www.ings-net.com.
Thanks for the nice comments and the wing polarises opinion in Australia as well, and thanks sm for putting pics up,if you want some Aussie car mags email me,we get heaps of 2 issue deals,I've got heaps of doubles, not sure if you get them in GB,Zoom,High Performance Imports,Hot 4's...let me know
Markos
It looked lowered to me. You not worried about running that power on standard internals atall?
Still like the wing.
BLUE S15

The internals should be fine. Most dynos in OZ are the Dyno Dynamics type, the rollers, the hub version is rare and looked down upon as giving an inflated figure when track times are posted ie mph on the quater. The standard bottom end, tuned by a pro, will be safe to 280-290rwkw(390hp) on a Dyno Dynamics dyno.My car was tested on both dynos within a few days and made 220rwkw(295 hp) on DD and 265rwkw(350hp) on hub dyno, big difference hey,so I am pretty safe at the moment. The new turbo might test it though. The Apexi dealer in OZ is running 298rwkw(400hp) on DD at the moment, testing bottom end limits. The guy tuning is one of the best around, worked on Nissan race teams(GTR).No one in OZ does there own tuning, not worth the risk unless youre a wiz.I like the wing too

Hey Jolly,I just had a look at your car.It looks awesome,as good as any S14 I've seen.Did you find the car was laggier with the 1.8 head gasket,we tend to go with the 1.2 to keep good off boost response, and come on boost sooner.GET A BIGGER TURBO.What is fuel quality like in GB.We get 98 octane,Shell,Mobil and BP,costs $1.00 a litre at the moment, gets up to $1.15 tops.I know yours is more, but you guys probably earn more,I think the average wage is around $45,000 here,I'm lucky, have my own business, pays for all my mods, petrol and I take $80,000 as well lol
Interesting as i would say opinions are different here. We seem to regard dynapaks (hub measurement) as the most accurate. The two main ones are Thor and Abbey, Abbey are GTR specialists of this country with a fairly impressive drag car and some impressive customer cars.
I had my car at a rr @ 314 bhp a week later and they couldn't get a correct figure cause the tyres kept spinning. They weren't the best tyres though. Suppose the quaility of the RR matter alot too...
I'll keep looking in on your progress, happy tuning mate :)

Just replyed to you other post and saw this :D
First, thanks. Need to update the pictures as the body works changed since...
The car isn't much laggier than standard tbh. Thats why i have the turbo i have. Its quite impressive, rated to 370bhp and desent spool up. Bigger turbo = more lag. I know 370bhp may not sound impressive but it gets up there quick and i have a silly amount of torque to help. If/when it breaks i may go bigger again.
I have a load of other bits to go on to make it even more drivable (new cams, manifold, throttle body, plenum, Z32 etc), i'm into overall performance (track racing rather than drag).
Optimax is around 86.9p/litre at the momnet, it was 89.9p/litre not long ago :(
Not sure on the exchange rate at the moment but sounds like you get paid too much ;)

Are you saying there are only 2 dynos in England or just your area. There would be at least 50 within 40min from my home. The Japanese prefer the hub dynos as well.We have a slide calculator that we use ,Moroso calculator(US)and depending on your mph down the 1/4,will calculate your hp,the yanks have been using for decades. An example,if your car runs 110mph,it will run around 12.5sec,and depending on the weight of the car, will calculate hp.Results are very close to Dyno Dynamics,as long as operator doesnt fudge figures.Anyway dyno is best used for tuning, track is used to determine performance
There are two 'dynapaks' (£100000 machines) in the country to my knowlage, there are a number of normal rolling roads spread around the contry. Certainly not as many in one area like your numbers though...
He is saying that the 2 dyno's listed are rated by many as the best in the country.
When you can get from side of the country to the other in a few hours its worth travelling for the best, not like Oz, a few days from one side to the other.
I know of at least 10 rolling roads with 1 hour of my house, but will quite happily travel 2.5-3.0 hours to Thor for the "best" .
BLUE S15

I find that interesting about the hub type dynos.Subaru STI has set up the most impressive dealership ever seen in Australia,a very lavish no expense spared,it has a free Cinema, offices to use while waiting for your car,a 4WD test track,at least 4 showrooms,a playstation room with recaro seats(12) and your own monitor, massive workshop and a 4WD Dyno Dynamics "rolling road" in a dyno cell, with a monitor outside the cell so you can check progress.I can think of only 2 hub dynos around here,I've used them both, owned by Asian workshops. The pump and injectors on an S15 run out of flow at about 180rwkw,100% duty cycle on inj. yet hub dynos consistently show over 200rwkw on std inj. They dont have much credibility in Australia, but they make more sense to me,thats why I used both.Another problem we have is because of there standing here,no good tuners operate them, only dickheads as I have found out.We also have LOTS of Dyno Days here, much easier to drive car on than take wheels off,but like I said, hub has no wheelspin, should be more accurate
the lowest point of the car is 2 inches(5 cm)
by my calculations you've got another 30mm to lower it then! just stop when the chassis rails sart digging in and slowing you down, light grazing is ok:)
