I am told my kitcar is run on Mobil1. I need to top it up but I've heard you mustn't mix Mobil1 with mineral oil. Is the best thing to do just to do a complete oil change? Or is it more complex when you go from mineral to synthetic or vica versa?
Nick
Advice I've been given in the past for cars in general is that you can go from mineral to synthetic (full oil change not top-up) but once on synthetic you shouldn't go back to mineral again.
If you're on synthetic best to stay that way - pop down to Halfords if you need some as they've got 25% off 5W40 fully synthetic at the moment,

By the way, what happens if you do sling mineral oil in with the Mobil 1?

Yeah what does happen.
Surely just makes semi-synth. :)

I've also heard that you never need to change synthetic oil. That would be good :)
It's something to do with the molecule chains never breaking down. I saw a test years ago where they put it in a car and ran it for 200k miles without changing it. I think it may even have been a 200SX or some other Jap coupe. Anyway, they opened up the engine afterwards and it was still clean and free of sludge and whatnot.
