View Full Version : ICE Dealers around Liverpool/Manchester
Does anybody know any good ICE dealers within an hour or so's drive of me, I'm not too far from Mascrat.
I've had a hunt around Manchester, but the level of advice supplied is quite frankly rubbish, I'm a beginner and could do better myself  Some of them don't even understand the basics of 4 and 2 ohm loads etc.
Any help appreciated !!
:)
There's a couple in Blackburn... if thats your sort of thing... there's one up on Eanam way which is apparantly very good
Do you have any idea what the name is. I'm after a discreet install, and already have some parts. I'm more after SQ than shaking the neighbourhood.

i'd get all your info in the ICE section of the board and then head out to either internet retailers or shops with a specific shopping list of what you'll need.
i've tried a few of the ICE places and the recurrent theme is that they dont know a lot except to please corsa/paxo/etc boys. (i.e. i wanted to run 2x subs in parallel and the place didnt even know that running 2ohm on some subs can bugger them.)
installation, again, since you're not after a 'bling' install i wouldnt bother paying someone for it, front and rear speakers are easy enough with a jigsaw and a sheet of 9mm mdf. sub box, similarly, with some 18mm mdf and some patience & a lot of silicone, it's easy enough to put it together.
the place i find reasonable on prices with a reasonable amount of knowledge is alpha car audio in bolton, they know enough to be helpful, and steered me away from the boyracer items when i was there, so i walked away with some decent stuff with a good 'bulk' deal. (there have been bad reports of their mail order service though)

Bluechip Audio IIRC, and it is very good
gobal ice wired :)
SQ+ - bit bit pricey...
SQ+ in manchester, the best in the country
K&M in wigan are very good but very expencive they do know there stuff tho
preston car radio centre are very good, not that bad on prices either and they do (or did) full installs.
As above, I hear the are the best, but sounds like you'd need a lotta win before you go there...

Also heard that they tend to only install their own kit, but I'm not certain if this is true.
Thanks for the replies.
I have been using the ICE section of this board and some of the advice here is better than most so called professional outlets.
I have been so dis-illusioned by the amount of so called experts offering sh1te advice, that I have bought the Haynes ICE installation manual and have been reading a car audio forum.
If all goes to plan I hope to attempt to build in an area of dead space between the fuel tank and parcel shelf to house a 4ch amp and custom boxed 10 inch sub to get some nice sounds, without using up boot space or adding too much weight :)
Well if its not bling your after...
Have a go at making it yourself, I can help if you need :)
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/chris_whitehead/boot.jpg - The install i did in my punto..
Only spent around £600 all in for everything, and that developed 138 dB, and could really hold the low notes...
I'll give you a hand if you are doing it yourself.
Like Vez and others say SQ+ is good but so are K&M but they are pricey.
