Frankly Im against it, all the local cruisesites are organising it, and Im worried about all the Chavs who think they can drive cos they have been let loose on an airfield.
Whats the size of the place like? How many cars, do you think could safely be there if they where running 1/4 mile races?
Also, whats the crack with insurance? Required? Sign a disclaimer???

We signed disclaimers I think.. I'm not sure how they are going to run a drag strip, it's no where near long enough. I did a drag run there with a 323gtr there, I think I hit a ton and had to slam on the anchors so I didn't go off roading...
The locals there arn't going to tolerate it, I can't beleive it's been approved TBH..
I think its the same place some guys I know use from www.driveme.net and they do some driving experience days there - only on a small track witch they set out though.
So, you dont think its long enough for a 1/4 mile run? How many cars do you think you could safely squeeze in?
Also, do you have the link to any pics / vids taken from there?

Here you go Stu http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=23767&highlight=CAMERA+WORK
It is a small place - nowhere near a 1/4 mile but there are 2 parts and we only used one. If they closed the road and opened the gates you could drive from one side to the other
Hi guys, sorry to resurface this old thread :) But who would i get in contact with to rent the smaller part of sighford airfield for drift practicing? Anyone know?
Also that race war's thing wasn't allowed there  They had to use hixon airfield instead which is covered in mud  I know cos i went  Not nice changing in to 3rd and your arse end decides to try and overtake the front :indiff:

go and buy yourselves an ICAO map (flight map) 1:250,000...see where all derelict airfields are and go have a nosey. There are thousands.

youll find a **** load dont, a lot used for emergency landings, and a lot in quite good nick. if you buy pooleys guide (aifield guide in UK) tells you about them, those that are still active/semi active/private.
Is there an online resource that has all the airfields listed?
