IMO, they're the best I've heard (so far), and I've heard and installed loads.
I've never been happier my sound system, and this is probably the 3rd complete re-install in my car.
You really have to hear whichever speaker you're thinking of buying, better to hear them installed in a car that a showroom display thing.
Lots of money though and you need to pump them with a decent amp to really appreciate them.

is that the standard fitted size or you have modded the doors
not ready to cut holes just yet

the standard pods in the door can take 175mm diam. speakers as long as they are flat on top or you may just have to cutsome of the lugs away to fit them flush - no probs.

Nope, an S14a has 6.5" speakers in the doors as Standard.
The screw holes on the speaker didn't line up on the plastic/fibreglass speaker holder thing, so had to make new holes in that.

Pods on the 14 must bedifferent then. i can fit 175mm dia. pioneers in mine. holes line up and all. I have spare speakers and pods to try them out - strange.

Hmm, must be very slightly different.
6.5" is 165mm i believe.
The fitting diameters on speakers aren't all exactly the same so I suppose you could probably squeeze in a slightly bigger speaker with a smaller mounting surround. Although 175mm is an odd size. Thats 7" right? Never heard of a 7" speaker.
And yes, you have to chop away those little sticky outty lug things so the speaker sit flush. Forgot about those.
The original speakers were Clarions which had holes in the mounting surround that these lugs would poke through.
Then I had to cut them away to fit some alpine speakers when I first bought the car. Then I changed to Kenwood Dual Mags, now I'm running the Diamonds.

I wish i could hear them, sound like you have quite an install!

It is 7". but I only quickly put a tape on them. They are pioneer TS E range and was convinsed 175mm but will double check.

Perhaps we'll catch each other at a meet somewhere. I've never been to one yet! Would like to meet some of the guys and their cars.
Yes, I've been spending quite some time and money on the Install, haven't finished it yet though. I'm waiting to move into my new house this weekend which has a big Garage, then I can carry on the install without having to worry about the crap weather. Also get some privacy. Don't want walker bys seeing what I've got in the car also.
Currently running 6.5" diamond Hex's 2 way components in the front. 2 10" Hex Subs. 2 DLS A3 Amps, one on the front and rear surround Speakers (Alpine 6.5" Mids) at 150W RMS/channel and the other amp pushing 1200W RMS into the bridged subs. So each sub getting 600 each.
1500W system with just Front Mids and Tweets, rear fills and 2 10s. Clarity and loudness is unbelievable.
Car needs lots more layers of Dynamat though as every panel vibrates like hell! :(

Hell fire that must be loud.

I think I will be going to 'billing'. It would be my 1st meet. There are some good guy's on here.

I have just got two jl audio 10w3 subs ( at a good price ) I am going to fit one either side of the boot. Got to find an amp to run these and what ever components i put in the front so i guess the amp needs to be big, powerful and EXPENSIVE!

What RCA leads r u running?

Regards

Daniel

RCA leads are not so brilliant. Running Autoleads and Rockfords but fairly thin ones (Although they're both OFC and sheilded). Never got round to changing them after the last re-install but I did the Speaker wires and Power cables.
Once I move into my new place, the whole system is being stripped out, car fully dynamatted and RCA's replaced with some chunkier ones.
Try not to skimp on the amps. They make ALL the difference when using decent subs like JLs.

alot of work ahead for you then,

well and me. i'm going to do a nice boot install and take my time and use good kit.

Just measured the pioneers definately 175mm dia across whole unit and they fit. I might just put them on the rear shelf as no one seems to want them.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing/hearing your system and many thanks.
